How is Leroy staged? Video inside.

For anyone that will watch Cleetus, they will know what I'm referring to. He's on the launch/ limiter and then lurches/bumps in in while barely touching the lever.

For those that don't know what I'm talking about it's a 6 speed stick c5 vette cart and he bumps in on the staging line kinda like how an auto would.

Fast fwd to 15:50 in the video.

So how is the bumping in achieved? I understand you would have a launch limiter to build boost, but what is making him lurch forward at the same time?

Not sure if this is how he did it, but one technique my friend used was to tape the button on the emergency brake. That ends up giving you a lot more control while trying to stage because you aren't limited by having to pull on it a certain number of clicks to have it engage.

I don't know this for sure, but I would assume he's simply using the clutch.

The big hand lever is working the rear brakes so he can keep himself from rolling too much, while both his feet are busy on the clutch and gas.
Either he's gently slipping the clutch then easing-up pressure on the hand brake to creep forward...
Or he's keeping light pressure on the hand brake then letting out the clutch a little more to creep...
Or a combination of both.

Meanwhile the accelerator it floored with the engine control maintaining boost/rpm (two step) by holding the button on the hand brake.

He then releases the button on the hand brake to disengage the "two step" when he's ready for full power.

Most likely using a line lock on the front brakes also.

I LOVE this show. He does talk about this in one of the episodes, lightly, but dang I don’t remember what he said.

Leroy is a sick machine. I keep thinking they need to really add some lightweight body panels. If you saw the episode where they wind tunnled it, they have a ton of drag and are leaving ET and MPH on the table. But, I am not sure if the added weight will hurt Leroy’s ET. That car is GREAT out of the hole but the big end is where it hurts. Probably due at least in part to the drag.
