Funny Thing

Thanks Andrew!

It is funny you mentioned that. I was not originally looking for Victory Red either, not that I don't like the red. When I was looking at the value of the engine work ($9,500) and quality of the work already done (I planned to do anyway), my choice was easy. Blue or yellow were my top two, then red or black. Black is a bitch to keep clean though.

Do you have any vids of the cam lope/exhaust sound?

Does the $33 for engine upgrades only include taking the stereo back to stock or were you just referring to the suspension?

Thanks,
Rob

Hey Rob,

I will get cam video today and post them up. The cam sound is what closed the deal for me. I have had guys pull up next me a light and roll down their windows just to listen to the cam.

I had Pat G tune the car for drivability also. The Z was tough to drive in cruise or in 6th. It would buck around and was very jerky left to its own plan. Pat tuned that out so under normal driving conditions it is as close to "Normal" as possible. Full application of the loud pedal changes that quickly.

At $33K I will leave the Kenwood installed. It also has a backup camera as well and the hands free all working well.

DUMB questions guys: isn't the Bose system a great sound system or is it old compared to what is available these days?

In my Z06, the Bose speaker system is intact and works very well.

The Kenwood Excelon DNX891HD head unit adds a better Nav System, Blue tooth, HD Radio, IPod link, Blue Tooth Audio, Several Streaming Radio Channels, Complete Individual Speaker Control (Well beyond my skill set) and many other modern features. It has a decent back up camera as well.

How much does it surge now ? What is drive-ability like in the parking lot / highway cruising ? As in if my wife drives the car is she going to hate it ? Gotta think of worst case scenario, she will eventually drive it.

Besides running the Texas mile , has the car been used for track days or autocross ?

Clean title ? Any damage or paint work ?

The surge is nonexistent unless until you crest a hill above 80 with the cruise on and the rapidly down the other side in 6th, then it will surge while trying to control the decell.

Clean Title with Bank Lien, No Paint Work and No Crash Damage.

Parking lot is normal, except for the obvious cam lope, highway is uneventful. It does not have cats. In Hays county it is a non-emission county, so you do get some exhaust back draft when in bumper to bumper traffic. I have been told cats will somewhat reduce it.

My wife does not like the Z because it is low to the ground. She is use to her Jeep. Throttle abuse will get you into trouble. Got to respect the loud pedal. When the NPP opens it switches to full throat roar and will offend your neighbors and passers buy. It does have the mild to wild switch to open and close the exhaust baffles.

I have not tracked the car. My original intent when installing the Pfadt coilovers and adjustable sway bars with the PFC ZR33 big brake package and SPL Parts bumpsteer kit was was to use it in the occasional HPDE, but then I remembered I already have a fully prepared race car (See left image).

So what is the deal with guys PM'ing with zero posts, zero back ground and being a new member wanting me to contact them via text?

I cannot see the upside or scam for them.

IneedaZ 05-26-2019 12:23 AM

1st time poster long time creeper. I'd be one of them PMing you except for the text part, if my search for a new house was over. Was going to avoid red as my brother has a yellow one and i don't want to be known as ketchup and mustard. But I could handle being ketchup for this car. GLWS
