Cams - educate me?
 

So I want to cam my 'vette.

mostly because I love the sound of a cammed V8, and Id like a little extra performance that comes with it.

It needs to still be driveable, but its not a daily car, its an occaisional weekend toy.

Im not very clued up on cams and specs,a nd Im not sure what 'spec' cam I need to go for,
something that sounds like this: or even a little more aggressive sounding would be great.

Can anyone help educate / steer me in the right direction?

Car is a 2001 Manual C5.
Already got borla axle back and intake ordered, about to purchase long tubes and X pipe to go with as well, but want guidance on cams!

Hello, I don't know crap about them either, you should go check out ls1tech.com. There is lots of good info there.

Call Brian Tooley Racing or COMP Cams or Cam Motion any other big name in cam grinding.

Google "how to read cam spec"
Google "how to select a cam"

A lot of things factor into cam selection. Don't pick too big of a cam unless you are ONLY after the sound.

Definitely call a tuner and explain what you want in your car. Nothing will make you not enjoy your car like a bad cam choice.
