ZR1 TPMS Question
I am building up a second wheel/tire set up for my 92 ZR1. I want to add the TPMS sensors but I was told at the tire store that this can be tricky and the sensors must be matched to your car. Does anyone have any insight on this?
Thanks. |
Personally, I wouldn't do OEM TPMS if I was replacing them (don't have them on my Shelby wheels). They are such old technology and as you pointed out you have to deal with tire installers being likely to break them. I'd rather either check them manually when I drive the car or buy an aftermarket unit. You can get solar/USB powered aftermarket units with either external or internal sensors (that do both pressure and temp) for about $50.

I am assuming your original set works fine ? If you can find a set of the 4 sensors for a 92 that are still in good shape I wouldn't be afraid to do it I have multiple corvettes with the sensors that still work good. Jay

I have a full set of TPMS sensors off of my low mile (14,000) '90 ZR1 that I'd happily part with.
