Question on leaf spring?

I have 02 FE3 z51, upgraded C6 z51 sways, Bilstein B6 shocks, question is will just upgrading to a rear z06 leaf spring make a difference in handling? Thanks

Silverwolf_pup 05-13-2019 03:41 AM

Anyone?

Will it "make a difference" - probably yes - for the better or worse depends on what you're going after...

Do you have enough tire to utilize that much spring/bar/shocks?

I have the stock factory size tires. Why?

That doesn't say much (all season, summer, track, etc?) , but it sounds like those tires would let go before loading up your suspension.

Tires and swaybar will probably yield a better result.

Sticky and stiff..........woops

A Z06 spring is stiff. The Z51 spring is in between Z06 and standard. I think the Z06 spring would over-steer. That is when the back end wants to get in front of you when you loose traction.

Personally, for traction, I want the softest spring I can get away with. Plus, when you accelerate, you get more squat and more traction with the softer spring. I purposely use the Z51 spring but with C6 Z06 a sway bar but I have C6 Z06 tires. There is an art to suspension tuning. If you search suspension tuning or under-steer vs over-steer there is a lot of information you might find interesting.

I think you have a good set-up.
