Hi guys. I havent really worked out fixed price as there was a fair bit of fabrication setup but was looking how much interest this would get as i've done my own C4 vette with this set up. And i could build the same to who ever needs the same. As a rough estimate
flanged moly 40spline axles ×2
40 spline moly billet 1350 yokes ×2
×6 timken bearings
100mm (4") hubs inner knuckle ×2
90mm outer hub ×2
Bushes and shims 6 new bolts.
???

Looks like a nice unit at a fair price.

Rob Burich 05-14-2019 11:47 AM

You'l only buy it once😊.

This is stock C4 Corvette 28 spline compared to C7 Corvette 33 spline.

So on your design the u-joint yoke has internal splines instead of external.
Are the yokes also fabricated?
How do you keep everything together? Bolt from the yoke side?

I would think that a 40 spline is overkill if still using 1350 u-joint, even if using the best ones.

Good work

Very nice pieces, but are 40 splines really necessary?

Well. The axles whether 35 or 40 were the same price. So to me it didnt make any difference. Just more security. . Also street driven cars put alot more stress on the axles. Bare in mind these turbo cars these days are nearing 1500hp + mine has a 632ci 1000hp in it. But for others with 500hp yes an overkill. Big kill😊

The billet yokes are 35 spline jegs yokes machined out to 40 spline
There are thick spacers in the rear inside hub to stop the axle sliding out. Also another bush that sits against the yoke pushes on the bearing as the yoke bolt is tighten.

Which U-joint are you using? I have billet stubs from Summers brothers and steel 1/2 shafts from Denny's. I still go thru spicer solid u-joints every few races turning the needle bearings to dust.

Rob Burich 05-15-2019 10:10 AM

Hey. Same 1350 solid spicers. check the torque settings on the u bolts. If u over torque the caps are pretty sensitive. Less is better. Also adding to that . The angle of the halfshafts. If they are not dead level it plays havoc on the joints. The more angular. The more stress. I fitted a 9" ford housing to mine but kept all d irs the same.. i ran a 50mm 2 metre long pipe thru end 2 end knuckle 2 knuckle thru the 9" housing so that when the rear was at ground lowered level. It was dead straight.. if theres any angle.. as the rear squats its loading up the uni's bigtime vitually trying to shorten the halfshaft.

JoeNova 05-15-2019 10:31 AM

Damn, that is nice work on that 9" setup.

thanks man. Just didnt wanna hav all the dana issues

JoeNova 05-15-2019 11:09 AM

I'm swapping to an 8.8 at some point and likely deleting the C-beam in favor of a full underbody crossmember. It seemed like a way easier option than a 9". Obviously not better, but easier.

hello mate.. i did my 40 spline axles for my C4. It was pretty straight forward. I threw the standard hubs. I had bigger hubs made cnc machine to 100mm i.d and welded the 3 long hex nuts to the hub. Pressed in 100mm o.d ball bearing and a tapered cobe bearing behind it. This is necessary bcos its gotta tighten up.. also theres another cone tapered bearing on the inside..yoke side.. it maybe betta to email me your address and i can send u pics step by step. I have mine completely done and assembled. Driveable Works beautiful.. if u gonna do the stub axles 40spline. U really gotta do the inner ones too which are full floating 35spline 4340 chromoly. Its just too much too mention. But i think well worth while.. happy too help mate. Bcos not many guys havd done this..
if u just gonna do the stubs 40spline. You'l have to shorten your halfshafts. Axles are 220mm from flange too end spline due to having another tapered cone bearing there. As u tighten the nut inside the yoke pushes against the bearing sleeve so wheel cannot fall out... i know u understand everything im saying😊
