Check my painted calipers!
Hey folks,
I have been working on upgrading my base brakes to Z51. I just finished cleaning and painting one set of calipers! My process:
I think they came out fantastic!! https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...aa0e108d4c.jpg After cleaning, right before painting https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...085d7b89bd.jpg After all coats of paint https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...7ba9e626d2.jpg In the oven! https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...a2a81b9c67.jpg Done https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...e8813168c6.jpg Done https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...5f64f6a2e2.jpg Done https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...20d8cdda76.jpg Done https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...72931436d6.jpg Done https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...c431d43986.jpg Done https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...92b0656c5e.jpg Done https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...3ef768e2cb.jpg Done |
Nice job! I plan on doing mine soon in black.
|
Very nice! I want to do mine color matched, but probably not going to go through the whole process, but that definitely looks awesome! Great job!
|
Great job as it came out excellent.
|
the removing of the paint from the letters is what makes the difference between an amateur job and professional looking job
It looks great |

chap stick on letters? really?? that is very interesting! how thick did you have to apply it?
I was just thinking about doing mine in RED because I'm getting new wheels and want it to stand out. How hard is it to bleed the system when you re-install? how long did it take ? I thought i could do this while I'm getting tires mounted on new wheels since I'd have them all off anyway |

The paint adheres to the chapstick, but the chapstick peels off very easily! As for bleeding the system... I don't know. I will cross that bridge in a few weeks! |
They look great well done 👍

You bleed them as if you are flushing brake system fluid all around. Plenty of "How to flush brake system" procedures on CF. |
They look good.
|
They look spectacular for sure. Great job!!!!
|
Nicely done! Those look great. Question...did you hit them with a coat or two of clear to help keep the letters looking good?

Thanks for all the positive feedback, everyone!
Once I put these new ones on, I will likely sell my old ones and paint them a VHT available color of the buyer's choosing!! |
