Scott I'm stuck pretty much in registration, so probably no photos. |
I just got here. 3 accidents on 495. Its 630pm so your probably gone
|
Indeed. Be there tomorrow.
Crazy drivers out today! |
Drove the 78 in the rain about an hour this morning and attended..
I didn't notice you there otherwise would have said hello. A number of chrome bumper, a couple of 427 big hp cars, 63s, 67s, and an original owner 61. Only one late C3, a 79. 68 & 69 to be judged tomorrow but owners were nice enough to open the hood for pics today. In all the events I have attended the owners are very friendly and want to share their car. More pics later. A couple of 69's had that short piece of insulation that was asked about in another thread. This is the 61, dual carb, 4spd car. Guys were all over it getting involved in what is original . https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...a3f8269a9d.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...5773fdec8f.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...69a5d2f9e7.jpg |

An observation. There was all trallers there friday. 3 cars in the lot out of the trailers. Not very interesting. Its not for me. I like the cars, but I'm not into grading museum pieces. I personally like cars that get driven, that have a soul, you know what i mean? You get your car graded, then what, go somewhere else and some one else grades it? Not for me, and I'm not attacking anyone.
So Me if I go to a car show out in a field somewhere, and all sorts of cars show up, thats interesting to me. Some bought that way, some built and or restored like these, but driven to the show. And then everyone cleans then abit from the drive and chats with folks as they check out their cars. Then wander around telling stories of how the trip there was exciting, or how they owned one like mine and changed this or that. Something with life. People just smiling and giving a thumbs up.....my grading system . If you get there early enough its like a parade of these cars that are still out on the road being cars. Some are even daily drivers which is amazing to me because of the stress of todays people driving with cell phones in their face or lap and they aren't even looking at the road. Its crazy. Ive got a great story of this 20 something behind me that kept looking like she was going to rearend me while we crept along in traffic. Short version is we are stuck in traffic because of the 3 accidents on the way to the show. It was unnerving because we could see her looking down and typing, then looking for somethingshe dropped, then reaching into the back seats for whatever. But then a range rover cut her off and that solved my issues Everyone digs on something, ncrs isnt my thing. Original bolts and stuff is cool if youve got plenty of cars and a place to disply them as originals. Or to keep them as an example of what they were like when they were built. But if option B is driving a 400 hp version with slightly newer suspension so it isnt as rough and better handling, a couple of hours through some country roads to a big Hemmings show and grinning, giggling and having the best drive of my life or just 30 minutes to a go to some dinky little cruise in where some old guy that bought a used 68 in 1970 can tell me how he roasted some guy in a Cuda at the beach off the lights back in the day. I'll take option B. Its just got more soul. And last summer after cruising hampton beach for a while, John, my buddy Rick and I all pull into a gas station to fill up and split up for the night cause its really late and this dude strolls over and starts talking about his vettes, how many he has, what years, how they're like ours, etc...he doesnt drive them, he just likes to have them. He pays someone to come get them, take them to the mechanic and bring them back. HIS EXACT WORDS. Hes not a ncrs guy, just a regular RICH guy with a fetish for corvettes like us. He tells us hes a realtor trapped in a lawyers body because his Dad says he will be a lawyer and if he didnt like it he could have his pick of cardboard boxes to live in. ....Really....Well he tells us these stories about his cars, his life, his family and im blowing that mornings coffee through my nose, I'm literally crying im laughing so loud and it wouldnt have happened if we werent out enjoying a beach cruise on a summer night. Just sayin...... |

But then a range rover cut her off and that solved my issues .... It would have been interesting to count trailers and cars to get an estimate of how many were driven. There were quite a few no shows; I'm wondering if the weather forecast kept people away. And, as for drivers... heading home Thursday on 495, I get this party hugging the rear bumper, NASCAR style. I'm doing about 75 in the right lane. I speed up a little, but don't come close to closing in on the party in front of me. Bang, on the rear bumper again. I put on right directional and pulled into the breakdown lane, and he blew on by, to climb up the back of the next car in line... |
I may be a little late on this, but, is there a Riverside Gold 69 427/390 vin 71490 at the show? It was dad's that he purchased new in 1969. I went to this show in 2013 because I tracked down the car after I found the p-o-p in early 2013. It was for sale and I should have bought it. But at the time, that wasn't possible.

The cars are indeed beautiful, but some jackass that doesnt like a shade of color that could be possibly color blind....not for me. I know for a fact that i see colors slightly different than my boss. That can get pissy pretty quickly too. The voices in my head tell me I can't do this type of competition and I'm listening this time. As for 495 and rte 3, I went to Bow NH for a big show this morning and on the way back about 230pm, there was all sorts of knuckle heads from Merrimack down. They would just come screaming of the on ramps and shoot to the middle lanes, not really a merge, just a suicidal dash to be in first out in the middle. |
