Totaled '13 LS3 M6 - What's it worth?

Need a few shoulders to cry on and some helpful info, too. Totaled my '13 1LT M6 vette this morning with 37k on it. Cruise control and torrential downpours don't mix.

Destroyed almost the entire body. Problem with Active Handling. Steering problem, suspension problem.

I'm sure the insurance company will total it. I'm trying to figure out what it's worth to buy it back. I would be doing all work myself (retired ASE Master Tech), just wanting an idea of what parts can go for if I end up parting it. Thanks.

The emhine nd trans are probably the only really valuable pieces. The roof and headlights are worth a couple hundred, maybe the seats, wheels are tires a couple hundred too... most everything else isnt worth 100 bucks.

Ahrmike 05-18-2019 09:09 PM

if the engine+trans is ok, thats a good 5k minimum for the dry sump engine + tr6060.

jimijam 05-18-2019 09:12 PM

That totally sucks. If you are in the pacific northwest, i'd be willing to take that drive train off your hands. ;)

Narddog 05-18-2019 09:41 PM

Not to add salt to the wound, but why are you using cruise control in the rain? I thought that was common sense not to use it in the rain specifically because of stuff like this happening >.> glad you're okay. Expensive lesson....

I think the previous posters are correct wrt the parts value...I’ll just add that we are happy that you are okay. I learned long ago that cars can be replaced...

I know, just wasn't thinking. First thing I thought after the wreck, though.

Not unless its a Grand Sport.

Keep in mind, due to being a transaxle, its less valuable for swappers than the setup from a 5th gen camaro for instance. It really can only get put in a c6 or c5.

jimijam 05-19-2019 12:31 AM

Ah, that's what I was getting at... the engine is really the only part that most people could use.

jimijam 05-19-2019 01:40 AM

Yeah, the rest is trade bait for engine swap. ;)

Oklahoma City here

Don't tell me you were in that storm yesterday? Oklahoma City was flooded most of the day and it was heading to Tulsa. Say rain around me my baby runs to the garage. Good luck to U.

That is sad 😞 if you can post some pics it’ll be easier to answer your questions. Good luck

Sorry to hear of your misfortune, go out & get another one...plenty of nice low mile examples to choose from

when I totalled my 98 I thought about buying it back and parting it out...... I didn't. Hindsight, definitely wished I would have!

It was 9AM, barely started sprinkling when I left my sister's house. I was going to meet someone, then take it home and swap out for my truck. 15 minutes later, going down I75 with cruise control on. Rain wasn't bad and I wasn't even thinking about cruise being on. There was a *very* slight curve coming onto a bridge. Hydroplaned and hit a concrete barrier, spun and hit another on the other side of the road.

Then I was out in the pouring rain picking up pieces and prying plastic away from exhaust and tires for 2 hours.
