New Shop

I moved to my old hometown a few months ago and FINALLY got my new shop finished! Still a little more decorating to do...but we're functional again! The Vette and all my shop equipment was stuffed in the house garage until I could get it done..so playing with it has been limited until recently. It's 30'x50" with 12' walls. It's got a 15'x50' covered (w/concrete) side parking area and a 20'x30' front covered area. My wife and I put the epoxy down. There's a separate "beverage" area and two long parts shelves out of the pic on the right. Feels good to be back in business! JIM https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...c4e7996283.jpg |
Very nice. I envy you guys with big shops. I have a small 2 car garage and am stuffed inside of it.
|
I would love to have a Shop like yours
Congrats |
We need pics of the beverage area!

Congratulations on such a fine shop. I imagine I will be far from the only one here who is quite a bit jealous of the fine work area you have.

Congratulations on the new shop. I like the natural light from the ceiling. Good call. I don't have that luxury.
I've got a 32 x 60 x 12 with a 2 post lift. It's nice to have spaces for metal working (mill, lathe, welders) wood working, and entertaining, with internet, wifi, tv, stereo. fridge, cocktails and beers, running water, furnace, a/c. It feels like we spend more time in the shop entertaining than in our house. I'm envious, I need to add some overhangs exactly like you did to store our pontoon, and fishing boat. My brother inlaw worked for a industrial floor coating company. He and I did the epoxy floor. People tease me and ask if the should take off their shoes because of how nice the floor looks. I've only had my current shop for 7 years. I wish I had it when I was younger. No complaints, I'm enjoying it in my 50s. Life is good! Enjoy your new shop. |

You can also see my neon "Batcave/Skunkworks" sign on the back wall above the car that she had made for me. The idea came from a bunch of buddies who said they never knew what high HP creation would emerge from my shop..so they gave it the name! The "744" road sign comes from the road we all street raced on as kids....known as "Radio Hill" because of a tower nearby. JIM |

Can't have enough light and that pic was taken with lights off. JIM |
The tire racks really helped also. I've got 3 sets of tires/wheels for the Vette. Drag race slicks and skinnies, 18"/17" speed rated ones for high speed events and corner burning and a set of Cragar's with drag radials and street radials for old school look and cruising. All of those are hard to store..so I bought two folding tire racks off Amazon (same as Summit sells but for less $$) and welded up the supports to bolt them to the perlins. Works great to get them up out of the way until you need them.

NICE I just built a new shop as well... I am putting WHITE EPOXY FLOORS in my shop so I can see what lands on the floor...
