ACS XL rock guards vs enhanced
 

Hello,
I have been looking at each of these rock guards. I am concerned the xl rock guards are going to look too wide on the car. I have watch several videos and looked at pictures, but it’s hard to tell without looking at them in person. Any help would be appreciated.

I had the enhanced version for several months and about 5000 mi. because that's all there was. They helped but did not stop all the sand blasting on the rear quarters, they have to be wider. I now have the XL's and never notice them. Mine were painted (by ACS) to match my car. Do I wish they weren't needed--of course, but IMO they are.

I had the enhanced rock guards and then the XL rock guards. The XL guards definitely help keep debris off the rear quarters and in my opinion look higher quality than the enhanced ones. I compare them a bit in this video.

I just added the original ($149 - ripoff BTW) and they look the way the car should have come from Bowling Green. The larger may afford more protection but look like you’re driving a truck. I have XPEL on my rockers and rear quarter so I just need to cover the doors.

Sorry for the pic size. I have had mine for 2 months and put over 1000 miles on the car since then. Not a single chip in the finish or on the rear brake inlet. Those were covered with the ACS press-on guards. Also highly recommend. Everything is a trade off. Function v. looks v. quality of paint/finish of the car. Super sticky tires pic up every pebble and fling them back. If you are a low milage driver may not need/worry about them. I wish I had them 3 years ago when I bought the car as it was sandblasted after 25K miles. They are a little pricy but cheaper than painting or replacing rockers or inlet ducts. The rears are about 1.25 inches wider than the body at the lowest point. The fronts are almost 2 inches from where they meet the body. Not sure what the factory ones were.

i went with the Xls and it solved all the issues with chips on the brake ducts. Do they look great??? I would say that they do not, but they do the job and they do not at all detract from the look of the car.

If your rear ducts are beat up, ACS has these cover that can be finished anyway you want. I got them CF as all the other pieces were CF. The press fit on and have some double sided tape to hold in place. There is a screw that can be use but getting it in was a little tricky. Couldnt tell they were aftermarket there unless I told you.

Duct covers

Had the enhanced and switched to the XL. Look fine and don’t even notice them. Mine are carbon flash front and rear.

I have a question. For people that have you tube channels, is there some incentive to make videos longer than is necessary? I would have watched your video, had it been 5 or 6 minutes long, which should be more than enough to detail a rock guard install.

Not that I know of, but there was more than just installing these rock guards. Comparing them to the old ones, talking in depth about the install (for some it isn't as simple as for others) and talking about previous events. If you watch it, you'll understand. I don't sit there and stare blankly into the camera so there isn't any wasted time.

Go with the xl, they are not that bad

I don't know what color your car is, mine is black and the XL guards blend in perfectly. Comments about how ugly they look are not at all what I see every day with my car. But even more importantly than the comments which range from ..."ugly" to "not to bad" to "you don't even notice them"...all that aside, the ACS XL front guards for the C7 Z06 WORK, and they work better than any other rock guard on the market today. I have yet to see one mark on my Z and I've been forced lately to drive it on "tar and chipped" roads. Go ahead and buy what you want, but IMO if you buy and install anything else, you will be disappointed if you are looking for something that really protects directly behind the front wheels and the in front of the rear wheels, especially around the rear brake ducts.

Get your duct wrapped in clear bra along with the front part of the rocker/1/4 panel

I have the older style enhanced along with the Zero 1 ground effects. Have noted no rock chips as of yet.

Good to know ! If you don’t mind my asking, how many miles with that level of protection?

I tried the enhanced version because that's all there was. After a 2400 mi trip I had some fine sandblasting on the upper rear qtrs., switched to XL version now.

I am at 2500 on my 19 Vert. I ran the enhanced with the Stage 2 GM rockers on my 17 coupe and all looked good at 10500 miles.
