Hey guys I recently purchased a 1990 corvette it looks amazing next to my c5 only problem is the fricking headlights open on startup......... And they usually open all wonky. With the car off and I turn the key to accessory mode I can then turn the lights knob to open them and then turn them on.... They always opwn properly when doing it this way... Why on earth do they automatically open when i fire up the engine ???? I'm in canada too btw I looked on forums and couldnt find this issue. I also haven't purchased service manuals as of yet so any help would be greatly appreciated Thank you |
Canada had DRLs (daytime running lights) before US. It maybe conversion related.

The lights should be able to come on with the key off. It sounds like the limit switches in the motors may be having issues. PS-Love the c4 paint job!

I think rather than worrying about your car’s headlights you need to figure out who ruined that things paint job! Children should have coloring books available to them so your car doesn’t become the canvas 😬

Slow z06
Hahaha I love the paint I get more looks in this car then my 99 thinking of putting kfc decals on it and calling it the colonel. Maybe "finger licking good" in script on the back Hahahah

(Mr. Harker, you should know this.) :( |
I too like the paint job.

I am in Canada as well, my 93 does not have daytime running lights on the big headlights.

From what I've read about DRL & C4s, converting a US spec car to run DRL without doing it right can cause problems with the headlights.
I'd have a good hard look at the wiring in front of each front wheel that goes to the headlights & see if there are any 'enhancements'. Good luck! |
So they open instantly with the switch in thew closed position (dash knob) - What happen when you pull the knob/turn on the headlights? I assume they stay on i.e. the headlight switch has no effect?
Here is the diagram for the 90 headlights, I would check the light switch but with power removed it would stay on so there is a possible jerry rigging somewhere in the wiring to constantly receive "Hot in run" at the light switch output or headlight dimmer switch input - Just thinking out loud but I would grab a miltimeter and also go look https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...1102f05902.jpg |
Hey bud your paint job ain't my thing,.... but if you like it, tell em to fuck off!...

I never knew starsky and hutch had a C4. Maybe they got that after they wrecked the torino.
