Was a C4 model your first Corvette?

I was a kid that grew up with a neighbor 20 years older than me that had a green / tan '72 with side pipes and rarely drove it. My Dad had a serious '65 mustangs for racing and the Corvette just seemed cooler to me. To see him drive it was rare and intriguing. I can't even remember if he actually drove me around the block in it.

As a teen I had friends with Mustangs and and I ended up having 2. '86, '89 GT 5.0's.

At 20? I drove my first C4 an "88 yellow / black vert with some strange but subtle body kit, mild mods, and 3.55 gears. It was a t a dealer and a blast to drive. It felt FAR superior to my GT's even with them modified in motor and suspension.

I eventually bought a mildly modified '89 and quickly sold for my current '90 vert, green/tan to modify. For a long time I still wanted a '68-'72 or maybe '80 stick, but I never pulled the trigger and now I don't think I would.

A C3 introduced me to vettes .and C4 was my first real experience and I ended up having one almost half my life now.

I still have a C4. Most here would scoff at it for the hacker it is, and I am not totally proud of it being unfinished but it is an experience to drive and provides me with what I look for in fun car.

lol thinking about it I don't have any good pics of it since I bought it so many years ago in stock form.

My C4 is my first and only Corvette, so far. Always loved the look of them when I was younger, but had to wait till I retired to finally get one as a second car. I know I'll always have one for a second car, maybe a C5 next. When I was a kid in the 70's, I also remember geeking-out at the 6.6 liter Black Trans Am with the gold eagle emblem painted on the hood. Not to mention late 60's early 70's muscle cars with headers and loud exhausts which would turn my head. Then there was the exotic looking Pantera! Don't get me started there!!!

Nope, had 2 C6s before I bought my c4. Have been a 2 vette at the same time guy for a while now.

Had a bronze two-tone 84 Z51 for my first Corvette.

Before I bought my 1st '88 in summer of 2000 I undecided between the "tech" of the C4 vs the "swoop" of the C3. One fine Sunday afternoon I visited the local Vette dealer in Phoenix. Though it was raining he offered to let me sit in a late '80s C4 and that was IT. That cockpit just folded around me.

Lately I've been watching TheCorvetteBen on u-tube and am being rather drawn to C3s again. Since I now own two C4, maybe I need 3 vettes…

C6 was my first Corvette. Bought it brand new in '06, sold it in '09....so no, a C4 wasn't my first 'Vette....but a C4 will be my last 'Vette.

Purchased my 88 back in 2001. It was the first Vette I’ve ever owned. 18 years later I still own it! 3 years after I purchased a C3 and still have that one too!

Yep, a C4 was my first Corvette.

In Dec 83 the Wife got her divorce and then was remarried before the end of the year. She had the house and since she remarried she had to pay me my half of the equity in the house. Went to the Chevy dealer and picked up a new 1984 Z/28 H.O.. Rolled that car three years later. Then I picked up a new 88 IROC Z. In Dec 1993 I added my first Corvette, a used 1990 Polo Green/Saddle auto Corvette Coupe. Had that for exactly one year and traded it in on a new 94 6 speed Coupe and sold the IROC to my Son. Had the 94 until the Summer of 2002 when the Z06 took it's place.

Enjoyed every minute driving that car on my many trips to California and Las Vegas.

I bought a 1965 convertible when I was 22 (now 62). I rebuilt it. While there were other cars, before, during and after, I keep coming back to Corvettes.

I bought a C4 back in '84, a 1/8 scale plastic model, '85. :D
I was 15.

31 years later, I bought Her, my first real Corvette, 1987. She and I will be together a long time. :yesnod:

My first was a 75, 454 4 speed. It sure had balls but not too fast. Have had my 93 since 2004 and many dollars later.

Yup.... I was perusing Ebay which was kind of new and fresh to me back then.... with my wife and showed her a black 89... she says buy it!... I said I dunno... I walked away for some reason (been a while now)... I come back and she had done it and bought the car! Had it a little over a year and bought a 94 6 speed convertible... then a 2002 Z06, then a 81 C3, (junk)...then a 93 Ruby.... then a 92 ZR-1....then another 2002 Z06.... then an 86, and now my 90ZR-1....

'77 was the first vette I owned back in the early 80's , however it was a picture of a Polo Green vert with tan top and interior that got me hooked again back in 2010. In fact I still have two of the pictures I first saw.

My first Corvette was an '85 4+3 Z51 medium blue with graphite interior. Loved it. I kept it for over 25 years.
Since I bought my '85 I have had 6 more C4's and still have a '95 6M Dark Red and a '96 Collector Edition LT4 6M.
I also have had some C5's (still have one) but my favorite is the C4. I expect I will always have at least one.

My first 'vette was a '67 427/4-speed convertible with air. Next came an '88 Tan over Black Automatic convertible and now have a '94 Tan over Polo Green Metallic automatic Convertible. I can see myself eventually in a C7 Z06 Convertible but I'm not lusting after one.

The great thing about C4s is that you can get into a very nice, well maintained and reliable car for under $10K. You can also get into a "Money Pit" with the wrong car also...but I guess that's true with any car.

First Vette was a 79 White on red. Second Vette was a white on Black 79. Third is my current 92 Coupe. Before I bought my first 79, Dad had a 79 baby blue on royal blue.

I wanted a Corvette after riding in my friend's '66 C2 Fastback 327/365 w/side pipes and Crager SS. Only had to wait 40yrs, but still got one
