The 2021 SF90 Stradale

- V8 Engine, 3990 cc, 780 cv (769 hp) max power at 7500 rpm via an "internal combustion engine integrated with three electric motors, two of which are independent and located on the front axle, with the third at the rear between the engine and the gearbox" with total powertrain output of 986 hp.
- All wheel drive
- 8 speed, dual clutch gearbox
- Estimated MSRP around $500,000 USD
- "Eyes on the Road, Hands on the Wheel - The Head Up Display is another part of the innovative HMI (Human Machine Interface) and allows various data to be projected onto the windshield within the driver's field of vision so that their attention is not distracted from driving." (Corvette wishes to welcome Ferrari to the 90's!)
- "The tail lights have also evolved quite radically from Ferrari’s iconic round shape. The eye-catching, more horizontal luminous rings create a more horizontal perception of the tail lights which in turn visually lowers the height of the tail." (Ferrari wishes to thank Camaro for the inspiration behind this design.)

The 202X ZR1/Zora

- Total powertrain output rumored at 1,000 hp via similar hybrid design
- Potential all wheel drive
- Likely dual clutch gearbox
- Estimated MSRP under $200,000 (as low as $169,000 even?)
- Head Up Display? Definitely a good chance that this isn't going away any time soon.
- Camaro tailights? Nah, but since Chevrolet shares similar design cues across their vehicle platforms, there will always be some who say the Corvette has Camaro taillights.

It's exciting to think about what the Corvette Team has planned over the coming years!

I doubt the ZR1 shows up in the second model year. It’s at least 4-5 years out in my opinion.

Yes, that's why I posted 202X. But the design phase has already started. :)

Maybe, but how do we know? That's the exciting part to me. The Corvette Team may have some surprises up their sleeves. :)

One of the more enjoyable sets of differences b/n these two, is that the Zora will actually be available for purchase if somebody wants to pick one up, and the buyer will be free to actually drive it and enjoy it.

The Ferrari will be garage floor art for those who have played Ferrari's purchase games. But, very nice garage floor art.

True statements, but sadly, most ZR1s are also garage floor art....

There is some truth in that. Although mine haven't been. I've tracked every one of my rigs and driven them all over Heaven's half acre. But, I get your point.

Availability for purchase and the freedom to actually drive and enjoy the rig are major plusses of Corvette high performance variants, though.

Even with the differences, the C8 lineup is likely going to offer us amenities that we never thought possible at such a "low" price point. I do think it's funny that the Ferrari website touts their groundbreaking taillight design and Head Up Display, which is the first for Ferrari. But if it's garage floor art, then I guess they really don't need the Head Up Display anyway?

Neat... but I have no interest in a 1,000 horse hybrid show pony. Now if GM came out with a modern DOHC NA V8 with an 8K or 9K rpm redline I'd be very very very interested in something other than the standard Stingray. If the Z06 returned to being a lighter NA track-oriented car I'd be all over it. However, GM has decided that the Z06 is something different now (vs. the C5/6 years). I suspect it will be twin turbo which I have no interest in. KISS.

^^^^
I wonder if, after all the issues with the C7 Z06 and it's lack of track readiness, if they don't go back to something more like the C6 Z06 and let the ZR1 be the big crazy high HP car....just thinking.

I don't think so... I think the Z06 will be twin turbo and then the ZR1/Zora will be twin turbo with electric front hybrid drive. That's what some of the leaked info stated. That said, we have kept hearing about 3 motors: 6.2 OHV, 5.5 DOHC, 4.X DOHC. Who knows if any of that was crossed wires with the Blackwing. Not sure why they'd want to have two variants of DOHC motors... more parts, more training for techs, more everything.

Not a fan of turbos either.
However, if they can build it without a turbo lag (like Ferrari has done), it might be worth a consideration.

I hear you. I certainly have no information hinting at what I wrote....it was more wishful thinking than anything else. C7 Z06 and ZR1 were so similar in execution, wouldn't it make sense to get a bit more distance between them?
Again, wishful thinking.
Howabout a N/A 5.5L DOHC? Should be easy to get 600HP out of that.
Then, turbocharge THAT engine for the ZR1 and ignore the 4.2L

Hey man, I'm on a roll...I got it ALL figured out:rolleyes:

Then you are one of very few and my hat's off to you. I've seen I think two ZR1s at the track and a handful of them on the road. I see Ferraris at both constantly.

I recently saw a C6 ZR1 for sale with under 2000 miles. Why oh why? I almost bought a C4 ZR1 a few years ago with under 5k but the guy wanted too much for it. Buying these cars and not driving them is like not having sex with your girlfriend to save her for her next boyfriend.

captain vette 06-04-2019 03:23 PM

with the new C8 no one need a Ferrari anymore.

Garret 06-04-2019 03:39 PM

God you people are bored and start threads on just about anything these day....
