Mild to Wild / NPP In A Box
 

Received my Z06 mufflers and now looking to get the Mild to Wild / NPP In A Box portion with vacuum lines for a base C6.

My main question is, what is the with or without LS2/LS3 E-Z Tap option? Doesn't seem to impact the price (currently $199) and the description doesn't really say what it is: https://www.southerncarparts.com/cor...st-p-2724.html

Any guidance on what the "E-Z Tap" option is appreciated, also interested to know if there is any other version of NPP In A Box / Mild to Wild which I should be considering for my base C6 with Z06 mufflers.

All 3 are actually the same from the pictures... Notice its the same picture on each one of them but different prices.
So I'd say southerncarparts.com wins there....

BUT still no explanation of the E-Z Tap option.... Anyone else?

Get the EZ tap and save your hands and fingers.

Is this the case for LS3 as well? Does this avoid it having to be installed at the back of the manifold?? The instructions still show it having to go in the back.... confused, lol

With the EZ tap you do not go behind the intake manifold it's up front and on the side of the intake manifold.

As fun as doing it from the back may be, sounds like NPP In A Box WITH the E-Z Tap is the way to go.

This thread is of perfect timing. I am finally getting my hands on an NPP exhaust from a club member who recently updated the cat backs on his 2011 Grand Sport. I was initially planning on installing the system without an retrofit control kit. I had real concerns about reports on just how difficult it can me to access the vacuum line located behind the intake. I would like to hear more about the EZ Tap as an easier way if getting vacuum for the butterfly valves. Are there instructions, or video on how to install the EZ Tap?

The NPP In A Box product detail page on southerncarparts.com (https://www.southerncarparts.com/cor...st-p-2724.html) links to a PDF with installation instructions (https://www.southerncarparts.com/Inst/nppinabox.pdf) which then references a YouTube video. I am not 100% sure which YouTube video it is referring to, will try to take another look and if I figure it out I'll post it.

Otherwise, I can share the experience on installing NPP In A Box with E-Z Tap after it's been done which should be sometime in the next couple of weeks.

Got my Z06 dual mode mufflers back from the exhaust shop who reduced the pipe from 3'' down to 2.5" so it will hook up to the base C6 exhaust, wanted to post the pictures here in case anyone was interested:

There is one video which seems to address what you are referencing (See below). But, the video is of such poor quality, and the descriptions are so few that it is unusable for anyone wanting to do this him or her self. I came away from this video with the question still remaining... What is the EZ Tap option in the NPP in a Box???

in order to tilt the stock cat backs out from under the car, how high does the car need to be raised off the floor?

I did this on my 2008 some 6 years ago.... My suggestion is chock the front wheels and get the back up as high as you can without putting the front of the car on the ground...

If you are also installing headers, x-pipe, M2W vacuum lines, etc where you need to be under the front, just get the whole car up as high as you can. That is what I did and was able to get the rear mufflers out, but theres never too much room,(as long as your being safe and the front isnt making contact)

Can you describe what the EZ Tap is? I have seen nothing which describes it.

When I get the package and do the distillation, I'll try to take pictures and whatnot so we can share them with our thoughts and what we did here.

Excellent. I will have the NPP set installed very soon. I will run them open for now and until the control kit is installed. However, I am considering other kit options. Those options cannot require using that vacuum fitting against the firewall. I hear that is a total pain to access, and runs the risk of that fitting breaking off in the wrong way.

I just completed some time googleing this product "NPP in a Box with EZ Tap". I may have it all wrong, but after reading various threads, It seems that this so called EZ Tap requires using that vacuum line behind the exhaust manifold. Several comments from those who attempted to install with the EZ Tap mentioned that the EZ Tap connector was not the correct size for the vacuum like behind the manifold.

My question is, how is this so called EZ Tap easy if it still uses the nearly impossible to see and access tube behind the firewall.

Are there easier ways to get vacuum to the NPP actuators?
Are there other (easier to access) sources of vacuum from the engine?
There are other vacuum lines on the car, right?
This cannot be the only way do this? Is it?

OK, I see now. The paragraph of instructions that proceeds these illustrations says nothing about the EZ Tap. Thank you for your simple and direct clarification.
