How many miles are you getting out of stock tires?

I recently bought a 2014 Z51 Convertible Stingray with 17,300 miles. It has the stock Super Sport run-flats. They look to have maybe 3000 miles left in them. Could probably be changed now. Its a convertible, so i'm pretty sure its never been tracked. Michelins website shows a 30,000 mile tread warranty. I am wondering what non-track mileage others are getting on these tires. Should I be getting money back on these tires from Michelin because they wore out long before the 30,000 mile tread warranty? If so, how does one go about collecting it?

I got 28k on my Z51 stock set and I drive pretty aggressive as my dealer would call it.

Bavaria 06-06-2019 04:52 PM

I'm probably going to get about 24k out of the fronts, and maybe 25-26k from the rears. Discount will get my replacement business. I wonder if I will get pro rated allowances on the original Michelins.

dave_2012_tt 06-06-2019 05:22 PM

Sweet...it looks like I will get more miles than I thought...I was thinking around 10 to 12 thousand. Not to be a bummer but the 30,000 mile on the tires on the tires web site is if you can rotate them. cut in half if you cannot.

Bavaria 06-06-2019 05:29 PM

Mine have been rotated per the manual.

owc6 06-06-2019 07:23 PM

I got 45,000 out of my first set of fronts, 55,000 out of my first set of rears, and exactly the opposite on the second set of tires.

I don't track, so the first thing I did was get rid of the factory alignment which is track oriented, and went with a neutral street alignment (there are specs out there, that I don't have at my fingertips).

thompstl1 06-06-2019 07:32 PM

I got just under 10,000 on my Z06. Could have stretched to 11,000, but the wear was just above the tread bars and the inside edges of all 4 tires were worn even more significantly. All 4 tires were worn at about the same rate.

I haven't tracked my car, but do drive somewhat spirited.

Is this miles or kilometers? If miles, how are you getting Two to three times the miles of anyone else?

Yes, miles.

The alignment is key! I used to get ribbed on C6 forum because I was preaching alignment all the time. Not ribbed recently, though, because the milage on my tires speaks for itself.

If you aren't tracking, then you don't need an aggressive alignment, IMO. I don't burn rubber, but I don't drive like an old lady either. (my lifetime average is 18.5 mpg and I live in a peninsular area (So. MD), where there is nothing but curvies, which I enjoy immensely.

This is OEM PSS.

p.s. the GS and Z06 tires won't get anywhere near what a set of PSS tires will. They are not expected to. Maybe a little apple orange ness as far as mine and someone with a Z06. ??

It looks like most Stingray Z51’s are getting 20 to 25. I’ll mention the alignment when I get my tires installed.

RedHat09 06-06-2019 10:25 PM

22k and I would have got 25k, BUT had another rear flat that couldn't be repaired. That made two. I used Discount Tire and got 4 new Pilot Sport A/S 3 zp. Everything including tire Insurance was a little over $1,600. First time I ever bought tire insurance, after replacing 2 tires it seems like a good deal.

1) The factory "alignment" isn't, it is just a random set of numbers all over the place. This time I got my new car aligned with 50 miles on it. Camber and toe in random directions.
2) At five+ years old you are borderline timed out on tires regardless of whether you have 50k or 0 miles on them. Time for a new set.

devnull 06-06-2019 11:08 PM

21k, May have been a little light in the rear camber for my spirited driving style! Haha

How are you guys getting more out of the rears than the fronts?? Doesnt make sense to me on a RWD sports car, especially if you dont track.

Silver C7 06-07-2019 10:43 AM

I’m at 37k miles and counting on original PSS and AS3+ combo. Original alignment, even wear, no track, no problems.

Braking and cornering usually take out more in the front since all the weight transfers forward. If you're pealing out a lot, then your rears will wear faster. I tend to brake hard and drive fast in the corners so I had a lot of wear in the front.

No rotation, just changing from left to right...

TPAJETSKI 06-07-2019 12:37 PM

I got about 25k out of the fronts and 40k out of the rears. I drive like miss daisy and my daily commute is a 19 mile straight line with a top speed of 45 mph.

tcinla 06-07-2019 12:58 PM

Treadwear rating on OEM tires is 300. AS3(+) has a 500 rating so they last longer.
