Track Night w/ New upgrades
 

hitting the track tonight hoping to beat my personal best. previously 12.63@108 on 1.7 60' on street tires.

changes since: swapped painted shorty headers with stock cats and modified airbox to Hooker ceramic coated long tubes with no cats and SLP Claw cold air intake

UPDATE:
so tomorrow night car is getting re dyno tuned. took to track the other night for the hell of it . after winter upgrades I tried to get it tuned but 02's were bad. tuner set to open loop to run okay until I could swap in new ones. took to track anyway for the hell of it knowing plugs were bad and tune off.

so tomorrow I am ready for tune. new plugs, changed oil temp sender(was bad) and did oil change. so hopefully should be running great after tomorrow. previous dyno was 318whp with shorty headers, cats and stock air box. now Long tubes, SLP claw and new Bosch 3 injectors. curious if any gains from last time. last time was dynoed in 90 deg with Hi Humidity. tomorrow should be between 65-70 deg.
UPDATE!

So had it Dyno tuned last night. Results not what was expected. I'm down 9hp and up 17 ft. Lb. Torque.
Car feels great now. Definitely more bottom end. Not sure if long tubes help on top or bottom usually but in my case. Increased bottom and lost top. Hopefully track night next Friday.

That's weird. Friday night the temps dropped by us and the air quality seemed excellent. Granted I was on the parkway around seaside/tomsriver but mine was actually running really well. The stock intake was actually pulling to 5k which it doesn't like to do most of the time. When I got home it was 62 with almost no humidity.

I a trying to get my auto 86 into the 13s. Fastest so far 14.03. I have GOT to get better tires, way to much spin. Good luck with yours, love seeing vettes do the 1/4

Are you going to take it to the track again once it’s dyno tuned? From what I’ve read most people would say that would help your 1/4 mile times by like 3 tenths at least it seems like.

The plugs do look nasty, especially the back ones. How old are they? How old is the motor? Have you done a leakdown test?

I noticed that too. It's b/c when he's launching, all the fuel is going to the rear of the fuel rails! :lol:

Did you make it back to the track yet with the car tuned good now?

Yes I will get it back there. I have interior apart now to do stereo install and have another project I'm working on. My Suburban is rusted out but runs great so I bought a clean title with what I was told was had a spun bearing. Turns out I think it's just a lifter issue.

Plugs weren't very old. Installed last year during cam swap. 71k miles. No never done a leak down. The plugs were beat from bad O2's the computer dumping way too much fuel. All straightened out now

Have you bumped FP since the LTs added?

On dyno pulls I adjusted FP for ~12.6:1 ratio.

Sorry. Fuel Pressure? I know tuner said AFR was flat across the full range. I don't have an adj. fpr.

Have you been practicing to get those awesome Reaction times? Very consistent and very, very fast.

Thanks for the information you shared, some of us have a "lot to learn" to be able to go fast. Now that I am 61 I doubt I will ever pull reaction times like those you shared. Once maybe...

In my early 30's I could get decent fairly consistent reaction times, but getting old is for Ford owners.... BTW I am a direct descendant of Henry's sister but get no discounts. I found that out at a family re-union when I told them I wanted a early 2000's GT-40....they laughed at me so I drive GM vehicles. Maybe showing up in a Buick Minivan was not a good idea...

Great work on your car getting the fuel system dialed in like that. I am just starting the process with my carbureted 1968 427, I bought an AEM air fuel ratio gauge with data output and I am hoping to smooth the entire fuel process from idle to full throttle. It would probably be easier with a fuel injection system. Carburetors are still great when they are dialed in properly and "can" outperform some fuel injection systems. I am using a carburetor from AED in Richmond Virginia and they volunteered to help me smooth it out, that is great customer service in my opinion. They built me a custom Holley 850 double pumper that flows over 1000 cfm set up for my high compression 427. I bought it in 2009 and they are still supporting me as a customer. I think they are afraid I might buy s Holley Sniper or something like that.

Keep on demonstrating that C4 Corvettes should be feared!

Do you go to Carlisle for the Corvette show in August? My cousin from Toms River used to meet us up there as we would go for the whole 4 days. There used to be a lot of good deals available there but the best part is the 50,000 other Corvette Enthusiast's.

Here in Northern Virginia I have not found a shop that will dyno tune my carburetor since it is a Pre-OBD car with zero sensors on it. Maybe someday, until then my GTECH Pro will have to suffice. Any idea how much I should be charged for a dyno run to set up the carburetor?

I am usually pretty good on the tree, these are not my best. I have a couple .00 runs. I am 55 so catching up to you lol. I get a kick out of taking an old LT1 and putting down the #'s i do. it's not that fast but fast for a cam only LT1 26 years old. left lane on this slip was a C6

Geezus...that's embarrassin'! For the C6. Doesn't surprise me though...that's about what I'd see (14's, even!) when I used to track mine.
