1987 ABS Computer Control / power reply
My ABS light stay on. My mechanic advised that it was the ABS computer Control / power reply. However, this part has allegedly been discontinued. I check with several corvette part distributors, Vendors including EBay with no luck. Part number Bosch / 0 332-512-006. Possible GM part number 14084083. Can anyone help me locate this relay or have any suggestions how to solve this problem. Thanks

Forget GM if you're looking for ABS relays etc for a C4. Go against, Porsche, VW, MB and a few others. Here's some info I tracked down when looking for replacement relays for my 86 the other year. Check Ebay using the Bosch number off the relay, you'll do better that way.

That one has a skirt that would have to be trimmed, but first look appears it may be the same relay in a different housing. I was just going against the Bosch numbers on them I wrote down from mine: Module Relay: 0332512006 - Looks like there's another possible but would have to do a little trimming on it. Thanks, This is my first time on the corvette forum. If you come up with anyone who may have please let me know. I have a 1987 Coupe with 21000 miles. I really would like to drive it this summer but hesitate due to the ABS light being on.

With the abs light on, if it's like mine it means you're driving a car without abs. You still have your normal braking, just not abs all else being equal.

With the part numbers that hcbph provided you can order relays from your local auto parts store. I ordered thru O'reilly (ABS power relay for my '86) and
it was shipped from Germany. $42.99 relay, $2.80 service fee & $7.74 shipping and It took a week to arrive. Full function restored and no more ABS light. |
Thanks Benny
Do you what auto store order this part / reply for you. I'm been searching ever where with no luck. |
Sorry, didn't read you post closely, I see you got it at O'Reilly

Here's a little trick that 'may' help prove it's a relay issue. Open the well up with the pump in it and using a plastic faced hammer or a plastic screwdriver handle rap the relays a couple of times. Now try starting the car and see if the light is out or not on startup. Mine went out for a couple of startup/drives then came back on, confirming to me it was a relay issue. Apparently in my case, the relays were sticking probably due to burn contact (my assumption),
I found my relays on Ebay, and well worth the cost and much less than any listed for Corvettes. I replaced both the main relays in mine, one was for a Porsche and the other was for a MB. Being they had the same Bosch number on them, it was plug and play and worked perfectly. |
