Well with me it could have been. Put my 68 on Ebay last week and it fell short of the reserve by 2k. In the garage playing with the hot rods, and when I walk past the 68 all I smell is leather, top down. Love that smell.
So I think to myself, OK I'll run it again with better pictures and description and maybe a video. Then I ask myself what will I replace it with? Hum.... 66/67 Fairlane? Nah...it's cool but not a chrome bumper C3. Maybe a street rod. Damn they're neat but not me. I'm thinking muscle cars/sports cars. What's out there that get's my interest.

Another Mustang..Nope? How about another Shelby. I think to myself you have 2 of the best Shelby's ever built in the 67 GT 500 and a 69 GT 500 Sports Roof, what else is there? Decision was keep this roadster, even if it's not taken out much as it sure looks cool, has never left me stranded , stupid fast , handles great, gas mileage sucks, rear tire replace is expensive .......but it's a convertible C3.

Life with cars is full of regrets, I've had more than my share. Cars I've sold that I wish I still had include a '60 Corvette, '64 Sting Ray, '63 Biscayne 2 door with a 409, '66 Porsche 912. That's why I currently own 5 classics that are all keepers. As well as my one wife of 46 years who is also a keeper.

Ford GT40 is about the only thing I would swap my Vette for. But, I don't have $300k or more to spend unless I hit Mega Millions.

I know the feeling. Both my children are grown with families of their own. My daughter comes to visit a while back, and asks me.. “why don’t I sell any of my cars”. To that, I simply reply, would you sell your children? My cars are my children now that I am old, and just like my children, the cars always need something!

A bird got in the garage yesterday, i opened all the big doors, took the windows & screens off of the 5 windows so he could get out.:thumbs:
So, i asked my wife to wash the car cover since it had bird do-do on it.

She said, you know you have had this car for close to 45 years now, don't you want another car to work on ?

Maybe my old 49 Murc, or a 60 Falcon with a 289, maybe my old 47 Ford coupe with a 348, 56 rag top with a 348 ?

I am very very sorry I let my screaming yellow 70 LT-1 Z28 go 10 years ago after 30 years of ownership. It seemed like the right thing to do at the time. Duh!
So when it came time to replace my hobby car, and children/parents/estate issues were finally out of the way, I spent at least two years soul searching and checking out cars , Of all kinds, new to old. That journey was fun too.

I ultimately decided the only car that would scratch that itch, or ache, or bucket list, was my teen age dream car: A Big Block C3. Even if I had to build it myself.
And you know what? To this day, I have still not even ridden in one, not a BB anyway. And already I feel better, even if it is just a pile of parts in the garage! This is the only car that could come close to compensate for lettting the LT-1 go.

Good decision. I sold off three of my Corvette's and honestly two of the three I wish I still had. Now I am restoring a convertible to keep in the family and wild money won't entice me on this one.
Nice stable you have, keep them well feed and groomed and enjoy the heck out of them. Be in Aurora in July to visit my family, then over to Montrose to visit my sister via train. Been looking forward to that double decker Amtrak ride and visiting family is always fun. Once again, good decision.

this thread hit hard.... over the years i have bought and sold many cool cars.....in high school i had a 71 GTO for a winter ride! while my summer car was a 68 ram air firebird....ugg....both were sold for a 69 435hp coupe my senior yr.[by the way it ran 11.70s on street tires and side exh every sunday at the local track in the late 70s] my winter ride was a state trooper cruiser, that was fun.a little over 20 yrs ago I sold my rally green BERGER CHEVY 69 Z/28 glass hood crossram radio and heater delete car and my 69 SS 396 375 hp chevelle so I could buy the family farm.

..in the past couple yrs i sold a 68 427 auto roadster, a 31 ford, and a yenko nova.[the nova ran a best of 8.18 at 178mph] i finished beutiful 65 396 roadster.. and just recently i bought a 68 427 numbers car that was in storage for close too 40yrs. my wife already is counting the ups and fedex trucks coming and going! then a week or so ago i bought a 1 owner 71 LT1 roadster... the wife was not impressed! my HAGERTY ins bill could choke a mule!

dont think i have a roadster fetish, its just what i kept finding over the years..i would like too have a c2 c3 coupe someday again.
and i dont think im done yet!!! this is what keeps me going at times.. i walk around them, and say thats a cool car, thats a cool car! TROY

New to cars so I do not have a lot of attachment to prior four wheeled vehicles. Prior to my accident I had 11 motorcycles, the few times where I did sell a past bike I have always regretted it so I learned and stopped selling them. Now I guess I have a new hobby to look forward to, I just hope that I have a big enough driveway.

I sold my 1969 BOSS 302 35 years ago. I restored it all myself. I rebuilt the motor,replaced all the sheet metal and painted/completed it myself. The only things I didn't do was rebuild the heads and repair the front seat upholstery. It was (Acapulco Blue w/ front/rear spoilers with light blue standard interior), 12 to 1 pistons, headers and Accel Dual Point Dist. April production, close ratio 4 speed! Nothing like the pull & sound of a high compression solid lifter motor. I miss this one every day!! I know where it is but can't afford what they go for these days even if it were for sale! If I hit the lottery, I'm on a plane to Alaska to pay whatever it would take to get it back!

I also had a 1965 Black Mustang 2+2 K body Fastback with a 351 Cleveland HO, Top Loader 4 speed with Hurst Ram 4 In line shifter, 1 piece glass front end. I put a lot of work into that but sold it to marry my childhood sweetheart (and future ex)! I'd like to own that one again also but the BOSS means more to me.

Sold my 2013 Cadillac CTS-V last year, 2-dr coupe, 6-sp, all the options. Low production numbers. Most likely rise in value 20 years from now. But at my age I'll never know lol.

...I also have had a good few cars I sold that I do regret selling. My one very rare favorite that I owned for 8yrs from the time I was 17yrs old to 25yrs old was a Marina Blue '67 Chevelle SS396 L-78 375hp car. Was Black int, bench seat 4spd(M-20). Was a two option car, the L-78 & AM radio. Also had that "over the counter" underhood cowl plenum on it at one time but I did not have it. Only 612 '67 L-78 cars were built. I street raced it as a kid(young adult)about 17 times. Only lost three times and not by much.

then he can build it HIS way.....bet he puts an LS in it....

A guy in my electronics class in 1968 had almost the same '67 SS 396 4 speed, same color, man I loved that car!:thumbs:

Good for you Gene, I'll be 69 this year and I'm about ready to give up on my '71. The wife doesn't like me working under cars any longer and I get a little tired trying to do things to the Vette that I did when I was 24....or even 54. No one to leave mine to.
