OnStar Neutering

I recently upgraded my nav radio and OnStar module to the 2013 version to gain factory Bluetooth. In the process I discovered a different way of disabling OnStar. Up until that point I had just unplugged all of the OnStar connectors except C4 which must be left in because it is a high speed CAN bus pass through.

I needed to power the OnStar module for Bluetooth to work and did some research. It turns out that all OnStar modules (that I've ever see anyway) contain two PCBs, one for OnStar logic and one for the cellular data communications and GPS. These are connected together using a multi-pin jumper:

Basically you remove the six screws that hold the cover and main board down, pull the main board put, remove the jumper and reassemble. You can find a few more details here:

What's wrong with just pulling the Onstar fuse?

It kills Bluetooth (if you have it).

A bit of a side note, but can you tell me which fuse is the Onstar fuse? I’m wondering if it is causing my battery drain issue...

You can find it on the label in the passenger kick area where one of the fuse boxes is located.
