Now I've done it!

I've been looking at corvettes off and on for the last several years and joined here in 2017 to learn more about 'vettes.

Most recently I was trying to buy a nice '85 but I missed out on that one. A few days ago I was seriously considering a '76 but once I got it up on a lift it turned out to have too much rust.

Today I was going to look at 2 C4s, a '93 and an '88.

I went to see the '93 first. I wanted to get a feel for later model year C4s and was planning to see an '88 later this afternoon. Problem is the '93 was nice, not perfect, but very nice. Took it out for a test drive and was very impressed with it. 110,000 but very tight. I figured I'd better make an offer so I offered him $700 under his asking price figuring he'd say no but he took the offer. Now I've gone and done it!

He's got the stock wheels with tires mounted, I'm going to go back to those, don't like the z06 wheels, I'm a stock kind of guy.

Congrats, I’ll buy the z06 wheels and I’m near Morristown.

Fair enough. Here are a few more. It's a 6 speed.

I have 2 things to fix that I know about, air conditioning and power antenna. Don't know what it will take to fix the A/C, the antenna works but doesn't retract all the way, I'm thinking it needs lubed but time will tell. I'm about to begin scaling a learning cliff. Guess I'll have to start with manuals.

I'm lucky on the A/C, my next door neighbor is a HVAC tech with decades of experience.

Congrats on the 93, she looks great. I read the other thread you made about the 85 vette that you missed out on and felt bad for you:sadangel:. Guess it all worked out for the best. Enjoy your new to you corvette.:woohoo:

vette196 06-10-2019 12:44 PM

Congrats on the purchase! Car looks great! Although I agree with you about the wheels. Look odd sticking out of the rear fender so far.

Want to sell those C6 Z06 wheels that you don't like? Lets talk....

Nice motor! They are a pleasure to drive - hope you have some twisty roads for it :)

bac22 06-11-2019 07:29 AM

Nice looking vette, think you got a deal. Your missing the clips that hold down the throttle cable the fuel rail cover though, short dollars to pick up new ones. I don't even use my radio, just pair my smart phone up with a Bluetooth FM transmitter...disconnected the power to the antenna years ago!

rusty76 06-11-2019 08:01 PM

I picked it up today at about 3:30. Loaded the stock wheels and tires in my neighbor's pickup, gallumphed myself into the vette's driver seat and pulled out of the PO's driveway. Shortly after that I noticed a red light on the instrument panel, "OMG, tell me I'm not in trouble already, in less than a block?" I studied the light with my old man's eyes until I was able to make out "Check gauges". Hmmm, OK, I'll do that. Oil pressure? Check! Oil temperature? Check! Water temperature? Check! Volts? Check! Now what, still on and I checked the gauges! Can't reach for the owner's manual now. Maybe I should pull over and figure it out? But my neighbor is behind me and we're in a bad place to pull over.

"Maybe it's gas?" So I look for the gas gauge. Hmmmm, where'd they put that, pretty important, you'd think it'd be easy to find. I finally figured out that it was digital . . . but what is it reading, it's just blank. I assumed I was "completely" out of gas . . . running on fumes . . . about to be walking, or the gauge was wrong, or it was full and I just didn't know how to read it. Details, details!

II made it to a station and put in $20 worth. Put it to a little over half full. At least I now know what it looks like when I have gas. I made it home with no other issues. Thing looks good in my driveway.

those wheels look great man, don't take em off.. especially for summer time plus they look like they are the big fat z06 rims.. look killer to me

1bdvet 06-11-2019 09:04 PM

:cheers:Nice ride, and before I would do anything I would leave the wheels for now, who knows it might grow on you.

Summer is here, so have fun! When winter arrives, ,right be the time to swap out the wheels.
