Z06 Callaway

Hi. How do I know if a z06 is really a Callaway version and not just emblems that the last owner put on? From the dealer pics, the rocker panel, rear (between taillights), and the place where the usual 650hp/650lb/ft badge is (by the shift knob) all have Callaway printed on it. Is there a way to find out if it really is one? The dealer is about 10 hrs from me so I cannot verify this in person. Thanks for the help

Why not call Callaway CS tollfree and give them your VIN?

Good point. I will call them tomorrow.

Call Chis at Callaway, or look him up on the Forum, he is here

Of course calling them to verify the VIN is best but you can also tell in other ways. For starters the bigger SC poping through the hood that says Callaway right on it is a dead giveaway lol. The badging under the hood signed by Reeves Callaway with your cars is number is another.

Thank you. I got confirmation from Callaway that it is indeed one of their cars. Now to see if those mods are kosher in CA. Appreciate the advice.

It's 50 state legal. The car is a blast. If you don’t mind my asking what year trim level and mileage are you looking at buying and what are they asking. I’m just curious I have a 15 3lz with 7400 miles. I bought it last June with 4700 miles on it and it’s a seven speed manual I absolutely love the car is a beast and a joy to drive you will love it.

it is a 2015 3lz. 14,xxx miles. They are asking 59k for it. Fun y thing is, per Callaway the upgrade was done at 14,xxx miles and the dealer got the car a few hundred miles after the upgrade. I wonder why someone would go through the hassle of such an expensive upgrade only to sell/trade-in the car within a few hundred miles.

That's a good question. That's something I would ask the dealer. The price seems good though. Car fax I assume is clean?

Welp you might have some power train left. Ask the dealer for the in-service day. For instance my power train warranty is over this December. Honestly if the car is solid and it’s got a clean Carfax and it was maintained properly they’re pretty bulletproof I wouldn’t be afraid these cars are pretty damn solid. And once you look under the hood the work that Callaway does is second to none you will not be able to tell where the factory work begins in the modification work ends. Callaway themselves Does a great job

I heard good things about Callaway too. Only thing that bothers me is why spend 20k on upgrades only to sell the car a few hundred miles later. Maybe they didnt drive it often??
carfax shows vehicle sold 7/15/15

Yeah I can certainly understand why you would question that and why would concern you. But sometimes things happen in life maybe the guy needed money quickly. That happens more than you think

True. Plus a few hundred miles on cars with low miles could mean a few months between the events. Thank you for your help

Your welcome. I hope it works out. Let us know if you go through with the purchase and how much you love it.

Will do!

The owner may have sold it because it scared the crap out of him 757hp is nothing to sneeze at. On the other hand Callaway may have had it for a few months to do the work and in that time life changes can happen and the owner had to dump it after getting it back.
Me I would try to find out who the orig owner was and just ask him.

Hi, Car is legit and was just sent to us in Feb. 2019.
It has a 3 year or 36k mi warranty on the parts we installed. Looks like in our notes, GM Powertrain Warranty is until July 2020.
Owner was very pleased with the car, but recently relocated. Circumstances dictated selling the car, otherwise, I am sure they would have kept.
Hope this helps.
