Windrestrictor wind deflector question
 

Anybody using the Windrestrictor brand wind deflector on their convertible? Do you like it? Does it work? What about the brackets attached to the tonneau cover?

I don't feel C7 verts need wind deflectors and they certainly don't add anything from an appearance perspective, at least IMO.

It is easy to decide, try your c7 without, then again with the windows up. Feel you need it, buy it. On my second c7 vert and haven't bought one. Go to wind restrictor utube, two videos including user feedback, both videos made in 2017, all users c6 or older owners. One c6 owner also wrote a comment under the Nov 2017 video. (For his c6) " great product but it gets dirty easy, and scratches when you clean it. I am a professional detailer and used microfiber cleaning cloths. Should have been made of glass."

5 years with my 14 vert with lots of top down driving and never felt a need for one.

I've been looking at them as a place to mount a rear facing camera. I have a 2ch dash cam system in my 4Runner and really like having the automated, always there recording. Can't see a good way to mount a rear facing camera without something like the Windrestrictor there. And, I like the etched crossed flags logo...they have a few variations, and will even do a custom image for you.

They also have a version that has a light built in. Not for me, but some folks like that. Seen differing opinions on whether it is needed or effective for wind in the cockpit.

I bought one and love it.. it stopped the wind enough I can wear a ball cap with the top down and still be able to see the road clearly from the hat buffeting.. It helps but does not completely stop the wind...

I think I am going to ceramic coat it and see if that helps with cleaning...

I am going to start a new thread and restate the question because the wind deflector is not for me but my wife because she doesn’t like riding with the top down because it blows her hair.

I have one and love it. It does work AC is better as is listening to the stereo while at highway speeds. I do not see any down side. yes I had a C6 before and that car really needed it. The C7 is better but the experience is better with the wind ristrictor, Where it really shines is when the outside temp is 60or below and it allows you to put the top down comfortably

I had one and it did work for blocking wind.
I had a issue with bad reflection when looking out of the rear view mirror, could be the position of my seat but I couldn’t adjust to make the reflection stop.
So I sold it.

I also have one on my C7. It does reduce some buffeting when the windows are down, and is even more noticeable with the windows up. My wife's hair still becomes a tangled mess (windows down) but she complains much less than when I had a Cobra. My deflector is etched and lighted, so it becomes a nice accent at night, getting lots of attention when sitting static.

The reflections in the rearview mirror can certainly be distracting, and is its only real con. My other minor complaint is that while the velcro to affix the lighting power-pack is strong, the power-pack itself doesn't fit as flat to the underside of the tonneau as I'd prefer.

Overall, I'm happy with it as a nice accent accessory to the car.

Plexus is a great product for cleaning and as a finish polish. Novus products are best for scratch removal.

To answer the last question of the OP...it affixes to the tonneau via adhesive pads on the underside of the brackets. No drilling, or modifications to the tonneau are required.

I had one installed in my '19 GS at the Bash in April. I love the looks and have found it to be effective in reducing the wind noise underway, at least for the radio.
