Free Corvette!

Hello all!

Sorry for the thread title, but it was true and I couldn't help myself!

Anyway, I helped my sister close and clean up her old performance shop and in doing so I contacted one of her non-paying clients on his 79 Corvette. It had been there for years and he wanted nothing to do with it and told me to come pick up the title and we could settle that way! Of course, first thing I did was check with the NTSB website, and not stolen! Anyway, finally got it home and started working on it. No fuel to the carb, yay. Traced the lines, found a kink at the pickup, still no fuel. Changed the fuel pump(forgot how much of a pain that was), it came to life! Then two streams of fuel from the vent tubes. Tried cleaning it out to no avail, so I’ve got a Holley rebuild kit on the way.

In the shop clean out I also got a 6.2 LS3 out of a 2010 Camaro. That will end up in the Vette at some point after I get it running and repainted. Probably mated to a T56 or TR6060.

Been a long time lurker, had a 79 or 80 about 5 years ago that was a real bad project. Never had the time or money back then to get it on the road. This one should be “on the road” by the end of the month and totally different than it sits now by next year.

So like most of us you have something cool in the garage. Have fun with it.

Truth^^^

I estimate I'm about $20k into my inherited '68 and I haven't painted it yet.

Have fun with your build!

Thanks all!
Yes, free up front will definitely cost me as this project comes together!

There is no better looking C3 than a black 79. Enjoy it, and be sure to take your assistant along for the ride!

I don't think an L88 engine will fit under a stock 79 hood, though.

I have 2 hood emblems. an L82 and an L48. what you guys think of getting creative and making the worlds only L42? cuz i will have that left over...

Thanks all!
Got the carb rebuilt and she sounds amazing! Need to tune it up a bit still.
My wheel adapters should be in Monday. Found some cheap C6 wheels and tires. Don't know if I like them yet, but at least I'll be able to pull it out of the garage and give it a good once over before taking it for a quick spin.
