1990 ZR-1 Turquoise/Black

1990 ZR-1 - First year ZR-1!

1 of 16 Turquoise Metallic ZR-1s produced in 1990! VERY RARE CAR AND COLOR!!

Reluctantly selling my 1990 Corvette ZR-1, which I have owned since 2014 (previous owner had owned it for 18 years). I have enjoyed and cherished this car, but an unexpected military transfer forces a sale or storage. Car must be picked up or shipped between dates of 19-23 Aug or 1-6 Sept due to my travel and moving schedule.

Basics: 1990 ZR-1 in Turquoise Metallic/Black (1 of 16 produced in Turquoise Metallic; 1 of 13 with Black Interior); 61k miles. Legendary LT5 engine designed by Lotus and hand-built by Mercury Marine is an all-aluminum, high-compression, 4 cam engine that produces 375-405hp in stock form. This car looks and runs great, with an awesome exhaust note. Metallic finish is stunning in the sun and still turns heads - one of the more rare and desirable C4 ZR-1 color combinations produced. The previous owner improved on the world-class design and engineering that GM put into the car by having The Vette Doctors in NY enhance the car with $15k in modifications that improved the overall drivability and performance (dyno'd at 400 RWHP) without detracting from the clean, stock appearance. Increases in horsepower and torque, along with higher gears that make 6th gear usable, make this a quick and enjoyable weekend driver. Price: $19,500 or best offer.

Mods/Upgrades (most installed by The Vette Doctors): Watson Headers / B&B Tri-Flow Stainless exhaust with x-pipe / polish, port and match the intake plenum, injector housing and throttle body (63mm) / Doug Rippie custom prom / 4.10 gears / Grand Sport brake calipers (front), cross-drilled rotors and braided Stainless Steel brake lines / open airbox with relocated IAT sensor / lowered 1.5” / Lloyds ZR-1 mats / ZR-1 badging on fenders. Car comes equipped with desirable OEM A Mold (ZR-1 5 Spoke) wheels as depicted in the final photo; I don't have the original wheels, but they are often found for sale in multiple ZR-1 forums. Shelby Series 1 wheels in the majority of the photos can be purchased separately by the buyer, if desired.

Condition: Nice, original paint with small blemishes consistent with age and miles. The interior trim, leather and carpets are in very good shape, with the biggest flaws being the typical bolster wear on the driver's seat and shift knob. Original windscreen looks great and has minimal delam; transparent (blue) targa top. All fluids and plugs changed within the year. Coil packs and injectors replaced within the past 1k miles. Under-plenum vacuum and secondary injectors work flawlessly. Seat belt/Airbag lights on (common for '90s) and Bose radio/speaker amps need replaced (radio/speakers another common failure due to age). Tires will need to be replaced. A/C works but air is not cold.

Car does not get driven often, but is always garaged. Feel free to PM me with any questions. Must sell or place in storage very soon! Clean Texas title in hand; car is currently located in Chesapeake, VA. Car MUST be picked up or shipped between dates of 19-23 Aug or 1-6 Sept, due to my travel and moving schedule.

I have only seen one other 1990 ZR-1 in this color listed for sale over the past 12 years - if you want a fast, unique and collectible ZR-1, this is your opportunity! Reasonably priced to sell, but will place in storage if not sold by the end of the listing. Car for sale locally and action may be ended early.

Just out of curiosity, Why a '91 or newer and not a '90??

91 gets the newer bumper... some prefer the 90 bumper... some the 91

Fair enough. Each has their own preferences. I am partial to the '90 of which I have one now. My partiality can probably be attributed to the fact that I had a new one in '90.
Have a great 4th. Cheers!!

Thanks, guys. Surprised that there is such a lack of interest in the car. I've only seen one other '90 ZR-1 in this color offered for sale. It's definitely a great color on the C4.

My first ZR-1 - which I still have and rotate in as a daily - was a '91 because I preferred the updated nose and color-matched beltline. After owning both for several years, the '90 has become my favorite of the two.

Mecums in town ! A 1991 mint went for 11,000 maybe you can get that. These new 2020 tanked the market for every thing.

I don't know anything about that '91 you mentioned, but if you can find a ZR-1 in similar condition for $11k - you should buy it quickly, even if it's not a '92 or '93.

LOL!! Id set mine on fire and watch it burn before I let it go for the price of an LT1 car...

Arctic, just put it in storage if it doesn't sell for what you want. Too nice of a car to give away man.

That's my plan... I'm going to offer it for sale over the next five days and if it doesn't sell, I'm going to store if for the next couple of years and enjoy it again after that.

Thanks... not quite as clean as that red B2K you just picked up, but she has been an awesome car for me over the past several years. I'll be sorry to see her sell or be relegated to storage yet again.

Did your white car sell that you listed on ebay?

Yes, it sold for less than I had hoped it would, but I needed to sell at least one. I at least have the option to store this if it doesn't sell.

Scott,
You going to Carlisle? Might be a good opportunity to show it off and sell it.
