She is!
I'll update the ad to reflect what I accomplished this summer. She's been tucked away since the end of September. Mileage is now over 45,000 New LH Window/Door Seal is now installed as well as the Targa Top Halo seal I thought I'd share a conversation I had with a respectful fellow and others who might feel the same way: "Hey Bobby, you may want to change your avatar until you sell the 96. Tough to believe She has been meticulously cared for and loved! When its sitting under a foot of snow" Thank you for your insight, That pic is from the first year I brought her home the second week of December here in Michigan IIRC. I put her in the back yard on the concrete patio until I could secure her spot indoors. It's not a "foot" of snow. It was more like two feet of snow that fell in the next couple of days! To me, it's just water, same thing I wash the car with... My cars are not trailer queens, they get driven and enjoyed. I realize there are some that would never approve of this and that's okay with me...their money, their car, their choice. I honestly feel that removing my avatar at this time would be deceptive. That's not my style. I had one man come out and take a look at her and immediately fell in love. When I told him it was a daily driver, he asked if that meant I drove it in the rain. I told him yes. He then told me to hold out my hand so he could slap me for doing something so outrageous. This is the same man who told me he wouldn't let his wife drive it because she obviously had no appreciation for how to care for a fine automobile. No worries. My concept of meticulously cared for and loved means just that. If something goes wrong, I fix it. I don't put a Band Aid on it and/or ignore it. I change the fluids and filters and do maintenance as required. I wash, wax, vacuum, dust, admire her beauty and drive her! I have my to do list that I feel is necessary and I chip away at it in a methodical way. I hope to install the LH window door seal (small, unsightly tear) and/or the Targa halo seal (old and weathered, still seals) this season if health permits. I love my car and I don't have to sell it for the sake of getting rid of her. What I am offering is IMHO, a beautiful example of a genuine American classic. Sincerely, BB |

I am interested. How old are the pics?
I will have to figure out working around the distance problem. She is stored at my friend's about 10/12 miles from here. With this lock down keeping us all under wraps, I'll eventually bring her home and take all new pics and update my post. I've been thinking about getting her out but I've not...I don't think I've driven my Equinox 50 miles in the last 9 weeks with this insanity! I'm certain these were taken last summer when I was installing the Targa halo seal while chasing the shade in the back yard. Last summer I also: Installed the LH exterior door window seal Installed a new battery Removed and cleaned the climate control head unit contact points so all lights are bright Installed a new headliner in my fiberglass top Replaced the tires Replaced the front brakes Replaced the front windshield header https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...3c35738dab.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...bda3491274.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...11e92bee0a.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...d957a17ef6.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...2949cc8568.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...9b43b819cd.jpg |
oops sorry, I think I just drooled on the side view mirror. Looks good.
Yes, the world is crazy, which will make the 750 miles even harder to cover. Hopefully it will work out easy enough. |
I've seen this car in person. It is certainly a beautiful car with a very caring owner.

I am trying to figure out all the issues I will have and I thought the easiest would be getting a temp MICH plate to make the drive home. I cannot find it anywhere on the Michigan gov web site. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I think I went through every link and not one leads to a temp plate for out of state transfer.

The next thing is I also believe our Governor closed all of our Secretary of State offices until this virus goes away (that's a WHOLE other issue)...have you checked with your Secretary of State for a procedure? Hopefully someone might chime in that has imported a car from across state lines |

Pardon my ignorance. I may be wrong but I don't think you are eligible for a temp Michigan plate unless you are a resident

Hopefully someone might chime in that has imported a car from across state lines I bought a camper trailer in AZ and was able to get a temp tag in 15 minutes. There must be a way. I just remembered, it is called IN-TRANSIT tags. |
I've purchased from OH, KY, PA and MO and drove them home. Was pulled over on my way home from KY. Showed the officer my title and the bill of sale, both signed by the seller and me. Also showed my proof of insurance, which I got prior to picking up the car on all transactions. The officer congratulated me on my new car and told me to keep it under 100mph.
The temp tags are usually issued by dealers in and out of state. As a private transaction, you have 5 days to get your car home. That's been my experience over the last 20 years. |
