Where to paint my wheels? - SE Michigan

Hello everyone

Looking for recommendations of a good, honest place to paint my OEM Z51 Silver wheels in Black, same finish as the Black gloss OEM Z51 wheels.

Does anybody know where I can do that in SE Michigan? Macomb, Oakland, or even Detroit?

Also what is powder coated and is it better than normal painted?

Thanks in advance!

If Troy's not too far Detroit Wheel and Tire is there. They may only do their own wheels tho. I used to talk to Joe Volpe. Powder coat is a different process and used to be considered "tougher" than regular paint but not as "glossy". Regular paint has come a long way since powdercoat was first intro'd. Here's an explanation...

Be careful with powder coating. I read one case where a guy ruined a new pair or expensive Forgeline rims powder coating them. Something about them having to remove the old paint and took some metal with it. Altered the area that goes onto the lugs. Can't remember exact details. Just be careful.

Black gloss powder coat is the only way to go.

I had good luck with Alloy Wheel Repair Specialist. Don't know if their in your area. I know they have other places than the one I used,
but worth checking out, but that's just my opinion. I have 2 pc BBS wheels that I wanted the centers done in black. They came to ILL. from Iowa and picked them up (tires still mounted). They removed tires, removed and did the centers and inside barrels in black and polished the outside rim. They remounted and balanced tires and returned to me In ILL. All in a weeks time and for the cost of $600.

Q. C. Coating does excellent powdercoating. I had a set of headers ceramic coated last winter and they came out fantastic. I highly recommend.
