What do you think will be GM's "big surprise" with the C8?

EDIT - To clarify... this is on the base car unveiled on 7/18/19. Not some future Zora/ZR1.

We've heard chatter that the standard C8 will have something really unexpected/groundbreaking... what do you think it will be?

I think the LT2 will be something other than standard single cam in block. The quick image in the first teaser video shows a massive dual-gerotor oil pump and a 2nd timing chain.

Where have you heard this "chatter?"

That it looks absolutely nothing like the padded mules would suggest. Huge difference, beyond our imaginations.

There’d be no reason for such bulletproof security if the real car looks anything like the mule’s hints. It’s radically different. I’d almost guarantee it.

I'm thinking we'll find out in 15 days, can't wait.

Following all the C8 content available on the forums and social media for over 4 years now. There have been comments by those "in the know" that something surprising will be on the standard car.

Doubtful on the base car, but could be the twist. I would be disappointed actually.

The concept of Active Aero (aero vectoring) makes my loins tingle.... :D

I wouldn’t be surprised to see a kind of hybrid power train

bimmerborn 07-03-2019 01:29 PM

I am just hoping for a manual transmission surprise.

Zymurgy 07-03-2019 01:37 PM

Mid-engine. LOL.

Bradl1982 07-03-2019 01:45 PM

another vote for some sort of hybrid powertrain. It would be fun to get on here afterwards and see all the old folks losing their mind!

benplace 07-03-2019 01:45 PM

I also think active-aero will be included with the base model, along with an automatic targa top on the non convertible.
The hood will be way different than what we have seen along with the rear end, no way the tail lights just have two black vents under them with no curves/sculpting/flow from the taillights like the c7.

You're quite welcome. I really enjoy all the speculation and comments that are shared here, and the expertise of the knowledgeable ones keeping us informed. 15 days.

Frankly, I won’t, but then again, I have nothing at stake. You, on the other hand, have made numerous and repeated statements claiming, with apparent certainty, that the car has to look like such and such. I’m pretty sure I’m a lot safer in my uncertainty than you are in your intransigent maintenance of those claims. I guess we’ll see, won’t we. Crow will not taste that bad, I’ve heard, good luck with that. 🙂

Its so late in the game i don't even care. I'm with Kletis, 15 days....

I predict it will be named the 2M8 Fiero II and come with a twin turbocharged Iron Duke engine.

They will also unveil a revolutionary golf bag pod which will attach to the rear bumper.

I truly enjoy all these nasty little disrespectful shots at people you don’t know and have never met. My first English 101 session required us to write an essay on the dangers of stereotyping. Perhaps you will hopefully have the chance to participate in such a discussion some day.

With respect to your hybrid comments, no, there will definitely not be any sort of hybrid power system on the base Corvette. But, there is a very real possibility that in about two years, the ZR1 Zora will approach 1,000 HP with about 200-250 HP coming from electric in such an AWD sports car. But, that’s just the opinion of some folks who’ve paid attention to what is actually transpiring in the broader automotive performance world.

The more bell's and whistle's and fluff is a ticking time bomb of added repairs, no thank-you.

Not all Corvette fan's live near a GM dealer bit of a headache.
