Doubt it... lots of dealers willing to deal at MSRP though. If you find one... buy 2 and I'll pay you back :leaving:

It will not even be offered by GM for probably the first model year.

Dr. ice 07-03-2019 05:35 PM

It was the start of year two with the C7. I also used GMS. I am sure it will be the same with the C8 since it’s GMs usual pattern with the Corvette.

Uh, call your Chevrolet dealer.

GM won't offer it, therefore a dealer won't because GM will not reimburse them. Once supply catches up with demand, GMS will be available.

This is correct, it’s not up to the dealer at first. It has to be offered from GM for a dealer to use it. Once GM makes it available I don’t see why your dealer wouldn’t give it to you.

As long as the demand for product allows the dealer to sell at a higher price, they would be stupid to allow a GMS sale.

Aggressive dealers looking to gain or maintain their allocation levels/status will sell for hold back once GMS is available.

The GMS sale makes the dealer more than Holdback to begin with. The "aggressive" dealers are the few that are currently selling the C7 at close to break-even or at a loss to build allocation for the C8 and going forward. The payback for these dealers comes when the new model is introduced and will most likely be red hot for a couple of years. There will be no reason for a GMS sale until the market starts to cool and inventory becomes available. I have seen GMS sales refused for years after introduction even in a big GMS market.

Interesting. I remember picking up a 2014 Stingray Z51 w an employee code. Big savings over supplier and other dealer “deals”

Some of us are obviously much more intelligent and far better consumers than others.

You are absolutely right! Spending many decades as a dealership owner/operator taught me nothing about how it all worked. If only I had been reading this forum with the other people not in the business thirty years ago!

Yeah man, maybe you should have. You are clueless if you think GMS is the lowest price that any buyer can possibly expect. Ridiculous but what some grease ball car dealers would have a customer believe. LOL!

On paper/invoice, GMS is the LOWEST available GM based price, of course you can get lower, look at the 400 day old 2017 Z06s that were sitting on lots, they were going for 20k under MSRP, GMS on a car like that was only about 7-8k, everything else is a dealership loss.

Perfect example.

One must admit you guys are humorous. Woefully misinformed and short on the facts...but humorous!

Are you suggesting the GM Employee number which I used to purchase a new 2014 Stingray Z51 in the first months of being available, was nonexistent? The car was driven 40k mi, then sold. Did that not happen, either?

I stick with only facts, regardless of what I read on the internet.

I never suggested that in any way and actually was not addressing you with my humorous statement. I nor anyone else can make a blanket statement about one dealer's actions involving one customer in one location. They are independent business people who do what they wish when they wish. Factually, it would be a poor business decision to sell a Corvette at GMS when people are willing to pay more. But, perhaps they felt potential or past business to be worth it or in some locations there just is not a market for a new Corvette. Whatever...good for your experience!
