Shift to "Park" required

My 2015 Z06 is not seeing Park. When I shut it off and I'm in Park it won't shut down. Says shift to Park required. Anyone else have this problem and what did you do?

Thanks

Dave

You can try pressing and holding the start button.

Something doesn't sound right there. Even though I have an '18 model with the A8 transmission, the functionality of either of those years would likely be the same, I would think. I'd take it to a dealer, you may have a micro switch or other electronic function failure. I know your year had a 5 year/60,000 mile powertrain warranty, so possibly, that "start-stop" function may still be covered. Mine will shut off in any gear with the start-stop push button, but it will not allow you to open the door unless it is shut down in Park....sliding it into Park after the engine is turned off, still will not allow the door to open. You maybe can bypass that safety feature, but I just follow the rules and put it in Park before shutting it down.

Aw come on now, just push the door unlock button and the door will open.

laserdude, you got me there. Opens perfectly when you hit the "unlock" button. Embarrassed for my stupidity, but I'll get thru it!
Thanks!!!

Where you able to figure out what was the problem? I have the exact same issue with my corvette stingray 2016

Having just switched from an M7 to an A8, I sometimes still shut it down in Drive. Just move it to Park and manually unlock the door with the door switch. Car will shut down normally when you open the door.

Thanks for thinking of me, but someone a while back beat you to the punch....see my response on #5. Thanks!

The OP sounds like he is describing a problem with shutting the engine off when the car when in Park.

To me it sounds like a linkage adjustment is required.

There is a recent thread about adjusting the auto transmission linkage (someone had a problem with the indicator lining up).

I would take the car to a dealer and let them fix it (if in warranty - if not in warranty, then I might try the procedures from the service manual that was posted in the thread about adjusting the transmission linkage)
