Why GM chose the reveal date of Thursday, 7/18 ... ?

Just curious about why GM Management decided to do Reveal date on a Thurs workday if 7/18, instead of maybe a Saturday 7/20 date when my local Chevy dealership where I bought my C5 & C7 verts, is hosting a "Corvette Gathering" at the dealership.

As business owner of 25+ years, I always host my clients (customers) events on my most popular day of purchase. My family has purchase 90+% of our cars on Saturday when we have more leisurely time, rather than 7-9pm free time on a working week day.

I would imaging a local Chevy dealership do a nice event on a Saturday afternoon, invite current & maybe future Vette owners in for free/discounted oil change, watch Reveal on high-def big screen, have brochures avail, snacks, drinks, & then a table for taking purchase orders...

7-18-19

7-8-9.

Because marketing.

saleen556 07-08-2019 02:54 PM

718hp 🤣

mre1974 07-08-2019 02:59 PM

Because $71,819 base price?

As has been reported here numerous times: there's no meaning to the date other than the earliest they could get the execs together and out to California. They're all in the GM 2-week summer shutdown right now, which will end this coming weekend/next Monday. Give them a couple of days to get everything and everyone out to the west coast, and you have: Thursday. Simple, easy, done.

Because they could.

I'd go with "no special reason". The Porsche 992 was revealed on 11/28, a Wednesday.

7:18 Nurburgring lap time

Tustin blimp hangar rental is 10% off on weekdays.

Maybe in time to reveal the C8r at Lime Rock on 7/20! :steering:

I know, I know....wishful thinking....

captain vette 07-08-2019 03:34 PM

Thursday is a day like any others imo.

I heard it will be at lime rock near the Fiero tent!

1. Ring time and worked out nicely for the delayed reveal.

2. What Foosh says... i.e. literally the only time that worked for all the GM execs.

I took out my Secret Decoder ring and figured it out. Simple, 7th letter of the alphabet is G, 18th is R, 19th is S. 7.18.19 is secret code for GRand Sport.

Your welcome.

It probably has to do with rollout and marketing and timing. Announce, then tour, then another press release, then “the dealership program”, news/editorial reviews, another news cycle, and now we’re in March 2020 with deliveries.

Chevy dealers want to sell cars on Saturday, not have their potential Saturday customers say "let's hold off on the C7 were came for and get a C8, they look great".

tolnep 07-08-2019 05:48 PM

7+1+8+1+9 = 26
2+6 = 8

  • The amount of corvette forum members that will claim the back end looks like a Camaro
  • They are Tadge's lucky numbers
  • Ring time
  • Number of c7 bent rims before c8 release
