12 Colors of the C8 Revealed on Keepsake Coins

https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...8ad0565b1a.jpg

It was a typical day at work until I received my mail late this afternoon. A package with the return address of “Chevrolet, 100 Renaissance Center, Detroit, Michigan” that included the C8 logo next to the address was sitting atop the stack of mail. When I saw it, the rest of the mail didn’t matter even though I had no idea what might be in the package. Of course, I quickly opened the package and was excited about what I saw inside…a limited-edition 2020 Corvette coin with the C8 logo on one side and Zora Arkus-Duntov on the other!

I took a few photos of the coin and the card titled “A Special Gift for You” that came with it. You can see that the card includes the collage from this morning’s C8 color teaser video release on one side and a note on the other. As I started to write a post about the coin on social media, I quoted the following from the card: “We’re delighted to present you with this limited-edition keepsake coin. Each coin is emblazoned on the front with the likeness of Zora Arkus-Duntov, considered the ‘father of the Corvette,’ and the new crossed-flags logo on the back. Each is ringed by one of the 12 rich exterior paint colors available on the Next Generation Corvette. Your coin features Blade Silver Metallic.”

The first thing that struck me was that the image on the front of the coin was the same one that I had seen earlier in the day in the teaser video. But then I chuckled when I realized that I had initially missed the statement that the coin was “ringed by one of the 12 rich exterior paint colors available on the Next Generation Corvette.”

I was pleasantly surprised to have received it!

The cool part was that they showed us the 9 existing colors that will remain and then 3 empty coins at the end to represent the three new colors.

I think that is what got me.

I believe I saw Red, Purple, Yellow, Blue, Black, Orange. And then my attention span died in the chaos. Was like.watching The C8 Blair Witch Project.

Hahaha

Let the bidding begin! But really, I'm keeping it. I only have 11 more colors to complete the set! ;)

Very nice!...Blade Silver Metallic

I'm anxious to see the Accelerate Yellow Metallic, and Zeus Bronze.

And the shades of Rapid Blue vs. Elkhart Lake Blue Metallic

Same... my ramblings:

1. I don't think I'd ever want to own a metallic yellow for fear of impossible paint match. Yellow is already hard enough. That said, the metallic yellow on the S2000 was very nice.

2. Zeus Bronze on the Cadillac looks very dark... hoping it is better in person. My gut says this will be the 1 year color for the C8 like Lime Rock Green was for the C7.

3. I am banking on Rapid Blue being like the CERV III or C5 Nassau Blue or C6 Jetstream Blue (see avatar)... if not, blade silver it is.

More great marketing from GM. Show a Sasquach hunter quality video to the internet, and then send out these VVIP packages to The Chosen. Brag about the "12 rich exterior colors" and then wait for one of those Chosen VVIPs to get on a forum to show us a picture of exactly one coin in a color we've been seeing for years.

I'm sure this will be a very nice collectible for the special people, but I don't see how it does a damn thing to build excitement for the car in the general market.

kratedisease 07-09-2019 11:30 AM

yellow anyone ??

can anyone post pics of their yellow coins ???

Bueller ? Bueller ?

Jeff V. 07-09-2019 11:55 AM

I've done some Google searches, and the only pictures I can find of these coins are the ones Jag posted.

Millerrock 07-09-2019 12:04 PM

I think the yellow will follow the camaro, but metallic.

keagan 07-09-2019 12:45 PM

So no one else on the forum got a coin?

I would call this a medallion not really a coin, but great collectible.
