Could Chevy jump the gun and reveal at the All-Star game?

Traditionally, the MVP of the baseball All-Star Game gets to choose between a Chevy pickup, Camaro or Corvette. What if GM jumps the gun and debuts the Corvette tonight? That would generate a ton of publicity.

I'm sure they'll upstage their own choreographed media / VIP event for baseball

Quinten33 07-09-2019 08:30 PM

Lol The MVP will get to chose between a red Blazer RS and the new Silverado 3500HD

If a player like Mike Trout wins and chooses the Blazer RS a car that stickers for about 1/1000 of his yearly salary that’s like your average HARD working American who makes $40k a year winning a $40 scratch off ticket....big whoop :D

Why do you guys do this to yourselves????

There's no guns to jump......

You have 9 days left....tough it out.

Upstaging your own event on a broadcast with a global audience would be a smart move. Millions of eyeballs seeing the car - in essence a free commercial for the product. And then people would talk about how they upstaged their July 18 event, creating more attention for the product. Publicity is free advertising and a no-brainer. The first commercial for the Ford Mustang ran during the Ed Sullivan show when the Beatles were the guests. We all know the results of that...

No, just NO.

2019 and 1964 have exactly nothing in common when it comes to media and marketing. Also, last year's MLB All Star Game turned in record low ratings.

It's an idea so bad, it's not even worth coming up with insults for it.

sunsalem 07-09-2019 11:45 PM

The closer we get to the 18th, the nuttier threads are becoming....:spit:

Jinx 07-09-2019 11:45 PM

By Friday someone is going to be convinced that 07-18 is really 07-13 and reveal is going to happen in their driveway the next morning.

Sure they do: GM had an unveiling for the new Corvette is 1953 and is having an unveiling for the new Corvette in 2019. Can't get more IN COMMON than that.

bigwoolyg 07-10-2019 10:40 AM

if Chevy were smart they would have rolled out the 7/18/19 mule and said "you are getting one of these, MVP!" just a little taste/tease and another plug for the reveal

Yeah, it could have been the Robbie "Sting" Ray edition!

Jeff V. 07-10-2019 12:41 PM

That's the next logical step for GM. Drop a stickers-and-wheels "special edition" before the car has even officially launched

Les 07-11-2019 12:39 AM

Just the tiniest bit of common sense could have prevented this thread from being created. That's about as nicely as I can put it.

This would work...

Corgidog1 07-11-2019 09:12 AM

From a publicity stand point that is not a bad idea. However out of the box thinking will not occur for a Corvette reveal.

CitznFish 07-11-2019 10:59 AM

I'm going to say no, they won't show it at the all-star game.
