I think the convertible will be at the reveal...

The latest GM teaser set has a quick clip of the convertible without the camo tarp on the back. This is the first we've seen it without the tarp. So... car is done and ready. We also hear that the reveal will have 4 cars instead of the traditional 2.

I hope you're right! It actually makes sense especially considering the first year gm is only going to have to make one engine and one transmission there will be minimal variables to offer so might as well do both at once.

I think it will be at the reveal, but orders placed will not be delivered for the first 4 months of production. Coupes hit dealers December, verts start rolling out in April /may is my guess.

I wonder why 4 cars?

2 colors of convertible and 2 colors of coupe? Or is there a chance they will have multiple models (at least a Z51 variant)?

^^^^^

Big event, want to make sure everyone will be able to get a good look.....so 4 cars.

Maybe - I could also see them revealing the vert at the LA Auto Show to maintain presence.

Side note: the diffuser also appears a little different than the other mules (sticks out farther).

If the convertible will be at the reveal, why are they only having one car present at the dealer tour location?

I heard there will be 2 cars at the dealers.

In view of the fact that GM botched the reveal in January and pushed it to July, the convertible should be a no-brainer at Tustin. But we speak of GM, so maybe not.

It seems we are also in an era of more rapid tech development and shorter life cycles of Corvette generations. Thus, it follows that they don't have all those years to slow roll coupe, then drop top, then etc. Maybe we get to the ZR1 faster.

That's interesting...when, exactly, in ALL of 2018 did GM announce that the car would be shown at Detroit in January 2019?
I'll help...GM NEVER said it.Not once.
The internet ASSUMED it (and you know what happens then)

Nope. Biggest Corvette event in ever. No need to offer more than the minimum. I would be very surprised to see anything except the base model in various form: different colors / wheels / maybe Z51 / aero.

Zerv is going to earn a lot of respect when this beast is revealed.

The reveal of a Vert. next week makes sense.
We have seen mules that look very much like one.
Allegedly, production of the C8 begins in Dec., which means the cars should be available at dealers (after pre-orders) in early Spring.
Of course, this is the perfect time for selling a convertible Corvette.

The C8 hardtop will likely have a targa top like the C7 (a semi-vert IMO).
Funny thing is I haven't seen a single C7 with its targa top off since the car dropped.
FWIW, the only time mine has been off is when I first saw it in a dealer showroom.

we will find out next week.

whatever ....
