A C7 Z06 owner takes a C7 ZR1 for a drive. The difference is bigger than you think
Definitely an interesting drive. It's a more "refined" version of the Z06 as far as ride/power goes.

comparing a 15 Z06 to a 19 ZR1 or a 19 Z06 to a 19 ZR1?

It's a 15 Z06 with the DSC controller but everything feels much more refined in the ZR1. I've driven a 19 Z06 at the dealership for comparison sake and it's still not the same. It's definitely noticeable on the street, at least to me it is.

I think we can all mutually agree a zr1 is better and faster than a z06. The question is it worth the extra $40k-$50k more? When I got my 18 z06 in Jan of 2018 from Macmulkin I paid $10k off msrp. I wonder if anyone has gotten $10k off sticker on a zr1?

It really doesn't matter what year the Z06 was or is. I've driven both years and if someone didn't tell you what year car you were driving you wouldn't know I promise you. A Z06 is a Z06. Those suttle differences everyone here likes to talk about are not noticable in every day driving.

If I didn't have so many modifications on my Z06 it may be a different decision to start modding with the LT5 instead of LT4 but at this point I couldn't justify it, especially with how similar the "rest" of the car feels. It's funny how people act like they are different cars.... I am just saying, already having a modded Z06, $140k for me would be better spent adding something different to the garage, like an AWD turbo car, rather than a swap to a marginal difference same car situation. Just exercising my 1st Amendment rights, keep your panties straight. ;-) |

I had a 14 Stingray, a 16 Z06, currently a 17 Z06, and have spent meaningful time (weeks) in two different ZR1's and elected not to move to one because they do not feel any different to me than any other C7, except for the obvious (heavy throttle power, mostly).

I'll wait the market out, in a few years I'll pick up a 19/ZR1 for sub $90k............just like all other models they fall in price.
My 2009/AO/ZR1 was knocking on $118k in 2009, previous owner paid full MSRP..........purchased it @ 6 years old/6855 miles for $60K They will all hit a bottom, but avoiding the initial depreciation and then buying a low mileage queen is well worth the wait IMHO, especially when you have other Supercharged models to drive while you wait out the market |
Zr1 is a better model period. Those thinking if it's worth the extra 40 or 50 grand or not depending on trim is all relative.
Its better engineered, more power, more efficient cooling or so it seems. And has the zr1 badge. |

If you don't track it I can't see much difference on the street, I saw the video of a Z06 vs a ZR1, both 2019.........the ZR1 obviously outpulls it from a dig eventually and a roll after a few seconds. That being said, for me I got $15k off discount on my ordered 2019/Z06 Vert. It put me $60k less than a ZR1 Vert, for me, ehhhhhh 650HP is just fine, for others it might not be enough. To each their own, eventually I will add another low mileage queen to the stable, for now I got what I want and need |

I could be wrong, but the 2019 Z06 has almost all the ZR1 goods with respect to interior, trans, axle, PDR, etc, if you get Z07 the brakes are most likely the same as the ZR1.

I have a 19 Z myself and very happy with it! I heard it shares a few parts with the new ZR1 and it probably preforms a hair better than the previous year models. I知 not a race car driver nor did I buy it to race so I知 not sure if what I致e said is true. But the car as fast and beautiful.
No reason to not be happy about any one of the cars in the C7 lineup! I'm not saying you should run out and trade your Z06 for a ZR1, I was just sharing my experience. These are both very capable cars! |

All you got is a deal on a car that is still a lesser grade to the ZR1. ANd you still run into the same z06 problems anyway. Hence why some people go for the upgrade from the z06 to the zr1. |

Whats your name on IG? |
2017 Z06 owner here and I agree that the ZR1 is a faster car not denying that but IS SO UGLY compared to the Z06 especially the Big wing! I like the front end, hood wheels and side front fender vents, price much better on my Z06 than the ZR1's and did I mention the BIG WING a deal killer for me ! I would be embarrassed to drive that car in public with that BIG WING!.That car looks like a NASCAR 100% and that's where it should be on the track. NOW IF YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT A C6 ZR1 THAT CAR IS BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! JMHO and you know what they say about opinions!:D

TL;DR
remember huge difference between z06 with 3LZ comp seats, suede, flat bottom carbon suede steering wheel, color matched stitching, carbon dash, etc vs the lower level trims. Night and day difference. |

I am sure it gets your attention, 100 H.P. will do that...my 997 TT on the 93 tune had approx. 603 WHP (on the 997 TT the parasitic loss is only about 8.5% to 10% so let's call it 654 BHP) but on the E85 tune she pulled over 715 WHP so BHP was well over 765 BHP. As my Engineering College major Son said, Yeah she is scary fast on 93 but she is like a spaceship on the E85.
