C7 to sell along side C8?

I thought production was finished on the C7s? Is this fake news, or am I misreading?

You could buy a c7 from dealer inventory or order a C8 from the factory is the only simultaneous choice you are going to have.

They specified that the 'last' C7 wasn't built yet... so who knows when they'll actually build it. Could be 2021? Could be 2023? Could be December? No one knooows!

In all technicality, they will be "sold side by side" because there stands a chance that some dealers will still have C7 inventory left over. Remember, there still is no end of production date for C7, just the last DOSP of July 18th. I'd expect C7 production to last out through September/October at the latest. Those final cars will hit lots October/November/December.

I don't know the exact date, but a certainty is that the last C7 will be built before the C8 goes into production. Once the factory retools to assemble C8s, there won't be any more C7s built. No way that a FE and ME Corvette will be built simultaneously on the same assembly line. Of course if the C8 is an utter failure, unlikely but possible, then GM could revert back to FE but I don't see that happening.

I would think that the remaining inventory of the C-7s would be marketed with the C-8 at a substantial discount until the C-7 inventory is depleted. Only makes sense. I'm sure that some people will not care for the C-8 and would opt for the last front engine Corvette. It will be interesting to see how this play out.

Still say they will upscale the next gen Camaro maybe even call it something else- to fill void left by FE car people.

Ferrari is the perfect example of how to do both...successfully.

Why a single assembly line?

Somebody who just paid $2.4MM for 'the last C7' is gonna file a lawsuit, if that's true.

I think its rather obvious that they will sell along side each other at dealerships that still own C7 inventory.. The issue is whether production is over as intimated by the auctioning off of the last produced C7, a Z06, a couple of wks ago, or whether this article I quoted in the opening post has any veracity. Selliing side by side so long as inventory exists is a Captain Obvious statement that would hardly deserve a mention.

It was sold but isn't built yet. So you're incorrect...

I wouldn't be surprised if there's both C8 FE and ME models. This would allow GM to hit a variety of price points.

I am the Corvette Manager at a Chevrolet Dealership. Today is the last consensus cycle to order 2019 Corvettes. Production for C7 Corvette will end in September. That is it for the front engine Corvette. The last car built will be the car auctioned off at Barrett-Jackson which will be a ZO6 coupe black/red interior.

7-19-19 begins the new era the C8 Mid-Engine Corvette. Dealers will know their allocations for C8 on 7-19-19. Stay Tuned lots of new information coming on the C8 from Chevrolet!!

An interesting nuance I hadnt considered.

The last C7 will be built before the first retail C8 is built. After the first retail C8 is built there'll be no more C7's, C7.5's, or any other FE Corvette during the C8's lifespan. After that who knows.
C4's sold along side C5's, C6's and C7's sat on dealer's lots for a short period together.. been the same with every generation.
This mess of them building two Corvettes simultaneously is pure crazy talk.
