Water drip + sizzling sound

When I park my car, I see water dripping near front of the car and it's making sizzling noise. Is that normal?

RonC7 07-12-2019 02:13 AM

Condensate from the A/C drips onto exhaust pipes on the passenger side of the car.

NORMAL

:iagree: This is totally normal

Normal

Vetteman Jack 07-12-2019 12:51 PM

Every car that has A/C does it. Perfectly normal.

Foosh 07-12-2019 12:59 PM

Yep, but the main difference here is the condenser drain is not often located directly above the exhaust manifold. I think most folks are used to the puddle in the garage after AC has been running, but not the sizzling sound.

Yes its normal, its your AC dripping on to the pipes.

So this is why when I'm in a drive thru, i see what looks like steam coming up from the hood... its the A/C condensate line dripping on the exhaust. Sometimes it worries me because the C7 runs HOOTTT, even when its in the 60's this winter, hitting just under 220 in normal driving... With going through multiple radiators due to the heat here in Phoenix with my GTO over the past 15 years, when i see steam I start freaking out thinking "oh no, another rad...."

orca1946 01-06-2023 02:58 PM

OK Now I have to listen to hear it when it comes out of winter sleep.

ShadyVette 01-06-2023 03:09 PM

Yes the c7 runs so hot that if I put my iPhone in the arm rest and connected to car play it will go into limp mode. Amazing how much heat this car generates into the cabin.
