85 AIR pump and EGR deletion...

I'd like to delete both of these, not to make the car faster, but to clean up the engine bay.

Some questions...

1. Deleting the EGR will set a code, which is no biggy to fix with software, but does it negatively affect performance in any way?

2. Deleting the AIR pump and tubing sets no codes and doesn't affect performance from what I understand.

3. Is the cleanest way to do this buying a set of headers with no EGR or AIR provisions? If so, which set do you guys recommend?

1. No. You can drive around with Code 32 set all day. I have many times. It does not make a real difference in engine temperatures or performance.

2. No it does not affect performance.

3. Yes. Mine are TPiS.

you can also reroute the heater hose from the TB....not really necessary and for minimal cost.....helps clean up the engine bay.....

That's sexy!

Yessir... TB bypass at the same time seems the way to go.

Simply deleting the egr without a tune can result in part throttle detonation.

Headers pretty much universally mean a tune anyway, don't they?

Tune isnt required for headers but would be nice. Tune is required for the cam change.

I never got knock with headers on a stock engine, but it is possible.

Hmmmm… odd.

The rule of thumb on LS's is changing anything between the MAF and the O2 sensors means a tune to either get the power you wanted from the change or protecting the engine.

Interesting.

The TPiS headers you recommend sure look spiffy, but I don't see an "EGR/AIR delete option. Do they offer one that you know of?

I think for the LS the intake is different and more efficient? L98 I would not do a tune on headers. Waste of money until you get an intake at least if not an intake and cam. I don't think the LS intake runs out of steam past 4500 (IIRC)

You might have to call them. Looks like they discontinued the header

I think I found it: https://www.tpis.com/parts/view/235
