What was this block out of originally ?
 

I have the engine out of my 1960 and know it’s not correct but can someone tell me what it is?
i assume a 283

I’d like to learn how to read it a bit too if someone can say how they decipher it
does the block casting give you more info or the stamping?

My source shows the following:
years used 1964-68 block casting 3849852 283 cubic inch 195 -220 HP Used in car & truck I couldn't tell you what the stamp pad interpretation would be.
