Brighter license plate light 85 vette

Watching live PD has me checking my license plate light to make sure it's working.....noticed last paint job (red) got some paint on the lens of the little fixture up there. Is there a brighter bulb for that fixture or a brighter fixture available?? haven't see anything like that in the vette parts books I have.....

Have you tried to remove the paint overspray? I would think that could help some. As far as a higher wattage bulb, take the bulb to a auto parts store and look for a replacement that has the correct style of base and also has a higher wattage. Maybe look for an LED style bulb as a replacement.

As long as the current bulb works and the lens (and the plate itself!) is free and clear of any dirt, debris, and paint, you should not have any problems with LEO's. Most states make it illegal to have some sort of tinted cover over the plate, so if you have one of those, I would recommend removing it. Also, make sure the current year registration tab is visible.

You can get LED lamps that fit, they are much brighter.

Why would anyone want their rear license plate to be lit up brighter and be seen clearly??? I couldn't continue my profitable life of crime if everyone could easily see my plate!!!
