It this color combo correct?

Hey C4 experts! The 84 Corvette I am looking at has a red exterior and a red interior. However, all the info I find says that they didn't come from the factory with this combination. The owner and myself are both in a different state than the car, so we can't look at the codes.

Thanks!

You don't believe your/his eyes or the snapshots? I'd think red/red easy!!

My friend has a Red/Red 84. The red used on the body is different than the red on my 91, but still red.

Several sites do show that only graphite and saddle were interior colors for the red exterior. But some will omit the note "Interior options for exterior colors are suggested by Chevrolet. Any combination could be ordered." Dealers commonly ordered color combos they felt would sell.

It's really easy to determine, just ask the seller for a pic of the Service parts identification sticker (also known as the RPO sticker).

Red on red

My 84 is factory red on red.

Thanks for the feedback. So it seems others have red on red.

Here is a pic of the car....hard to get to the RPO codes.....

Red/carmine leather is no problem for an '84

Here's one with a 'build sheet'

I had 89 C4 with Red on Red combinations.

Red with the Carmine/Burgundy red was the only year C4 you weren’t “supposed” to be able to order a Red exterior wiith a Red interior in fact only 84 98 and 99 are the only years from 1984-2019 it was restricted combinations were possible “wink” “wink” but unlikely

Black book shows Carmine as an interior color for 84 with 12,768 made with that color. With that many hard to believe there were none with Red exterior of which 12,942 made. Book says suggested interiors shown, other combinations were possible..

Isn't anybody going ask the OP why he's considering buying a C4 that's hanging on its side from hooks and what the story is behind it?

Talk about the elephant in the room...

renchjeep 07-15-2019 01:24 AM

Ok....84OffTheWall.....why is that 84 hanging from the ceiling sideways?

Clyde_84_c4 07-15-2019 07:37 AM

My 84 C4 is red on red, classic vette color scheme.

Lol, yea, I was just about to ask that question. Along with why it was even on the wall in the first place.

Before we bought the 94, we test drove a red on red 84 model. I never got deep enough to check the RPO codes since it ran like crap and I walked away, but it appeared to be stock.

Fun story....this is in a restaurant that closed down. The car is 100% complete, only missing the passenger side wheels and tires. I know the new owner who just bought the building and he said that if I want the car come and get it. My first thought was if you are going to hang a car on the wall, save some weight and take the drivetrain out of it!!

It has been hanging on that wall for 4 years....Is it worth it to revive it?

"come and get it" as in free? If so, why are we even talking. Go get that car and either save it or part it out. Based off the pics it looks like it, at min, has some nice parts. If it's complete I'd been there before he even hung up.

Yup! Free! I just have to drop it off the wall and trailer it home. He didn't hang it up, the previous restaurant hung it up as part of their décor. The Carfax goes right up until the restaurant group bought it and hung it up. Last reported mileage...129,000.
