2003 Dick Guldstrand Signature Edition Z06 50th Ann. 427CI Extremely Rare Collector

Ok, I almost have to post this without looking. I swore I would never sale this car. As the title says 2003 ZO6 Dick Guldstrand 50th 427CI. You don't get much more rare than this car. This is an actual collector car. I do have a collector car loan against the car through local credit union and can pick the title up at the local branch. The original build plan was to produce 50 of these cars but according to research only 3 were actually built. With a MSRP $100,485 Dealer Order, which was double the standard ZO6 in 2003, it is quite understandable that planned production was not met especially since stocks were down for quite a while after 9/11. Interesting enough the original owner was a female artist from Florida that passed away at age 70 in 2014. I do not drive this car due to it's rarity and yes it is completely original and bone stock. I have owned it for a couple of years and bought it with 24,500 miles and it currently has 26000 miles. I am the second owner and purchased it through an estate consignment. I assume she really wanted the color combo. I can't imagine her ordering this car for the 500hp (tunable 560hp) natural aspirated performance and handling package that came with this package. Also what I find very cool is it was ordered through the same Iconic Dealer that special ordered the Apollo 12 astronaut's Black and Gold C3s. Dick Guldstrand himself a Corvette racing legend and builder. Known to most as Mr. Corvette and influenced many changes in model years and design ideas. Some of which you see directly in this car with its 427 engine found in C6 ZO6 and interior accents later found in some anniversary edition C6 cars. Since my divorce I have decided to change how I spend the remaining years of my life. I have sold all of my cars, hoping to hang on to this one, but I will be on the seas and no way to enjoy the car. This is not a divorce sell but it is the only reason this car is being sold. There are many links below for additional information. However, the build number is not accurate in the articles. The engine serial numbers have been confirmed through Katec that 6 engines total were built. However 3 engines have been verified to have been installed in 2001 and 2002 Corvettes. What is uncertain is whether there were 2 or 3 of these cars sold. Dick himself drove one, but it may have been a prototype. This car is believed to be number 2. Not sure what has happened to Dick's car, but the other has been located in Southern California, condition unknown. Prior to my purchasing this car, I had to order a collector car appraisal. It is priced way below the appraisal. It should be re-appraised since that appraisal was based on the data at the time with the assumption that 50 of these cars existed. Now however, the game changes substantially with 2 possibly 3 including the prototype car being produced. A collector car appraisal is the only way you can get a loan and properly adjusted insurance on this car as it is not old enough to be a classic.

Wow! I've had a 1:18 diecast of this car since I was a kid. I always assumed it was some custom diecast. I never knew the car actually existed! This is really cool. GLWS!

Dick was at Carlisle a few years ago with one of these cars. I walked up and started talking with him and I told him I had a C5Z. He was very nice to me and asked me if I wanted to open the door and sit in the car. A great honor to meet and talk to Corvette royalty. GLWS to the OP.

BluegrassMotorsport

My son has the die cast model as well, and also how I recognized it when I stumbled across the car. They are also collector items. My son also plays a game called Forza and the car is in it as well.

Thank you. The car he took to Carlisle and many other events was the prototype which he kept.

Open to partial trades but also reach out to collectors and show them what you found. I would bet they will throw in a finders fee. Other than the museum, very few people know these cars were even produced. Damn near everyone that has seen it thinks it is a custom. .

Amazing... So all of the different body panels etc are straight from GM? This is incredible. Never knew these existed. :flag:

It appears the front lip is missing from the car? Rare car regardless. GLWS.

VetteIndy 10-27-2019 09:00 AM

This would be a great corvette museum car

E.T.D. Corvettes 10-28-2019 11:31 PM

Stunning!

bobgroger 10-31-2019 10:21 PM

This would be great for a rich Seattle techie. Washington Huskies....purple and gold. Dick Guldstrand is a legend. GLWS!

Sgt.Dozer 11-07-2019 08:04 AM

It may appear gold and purple in pics but it is actually gold and blue. I will say this though, it really has to be seen in person, Pics do it no justice. In person it grabs you...

n8dogg 11-07-2019 07:06 PM

wow! Amazing car, and cheaply priced IMO

Sgt.Dozer 12-08-2019 10:50 PM

Vetteindy, I have discussed it with the museum as they plan on building a Guldstrand exhibit.
