OT, How many of you old farts are thinking about buying a C8?

Looks great. I almost ordered Blade Silver. I ordered Elkhart Lake Blue, Z51. Keeping it 2 years, then going for the Z06 in Blade Silver.

I was actually thinking maybe I should buy a new C7 instead.
Getting one of the last stick-shift front-engine Corvettes kind of appeals to me.

Maybe a Z06 like this one in the Elkhart Lake Blue Metallic color.
At a Chevy dealer about 30 minutes from my house.

My thoughts too, but I may pull the trigger in the spring of next year. Its a wait and see.

At what age are you an "old fart"?

I guess it depends on how fat your wallet is, as I approach retirement age- 6 more years, I am more concerned with how I will pay taxes and ins costs over a new $100k optioned vette. Maybe that is the first stage of being an "old fart" , back when I was a young fart I would have still stayed with a 63-75 vette.

At 69: retired, and a corvette lover since 16 and in the context of this thread and forum I am an old fart. That's it!

Waiting to see the convertible. I will also wait a model year before I would sell my C7 for a C8. Talked to a retired (2018) Corvette engineer and he is concerned about the electrical system in the C8, since it is a totally new platform and that they are having issues. Love the look of the car though.

This old fart will stick with his ‘58. I wouldn’t know what to do with a Corvette that didn’t need to be restored. We have a new F-150 and the two Harley’s are other toys.

I'm thinking about it but like post 3 the thought of buying a 2019 with a 6 speed is also very appealing. They had a C8 on display at Lambeau Field last week as an all day event sponsored by the local Chevy dealer and were taking deposits on a new one. The car sure is beautiful. The most interesting thing was there were 15 Corvettes in the parking lot, which would be 15 more than normal, all C5 and newer with only one other C2 besides mine. It was parked about a block away from the display out in the far reaches of the lot with no other cars anywhere close to it. I parked next to him.

Same with me except I started loving them at age 9, with the Rt. 66 TV series.
Anyway, I'd love to have one just like in the picture. It's against my better judgement, but I may pull the trigger on the 2021 model year. The price is one thing, the depreciation is another.

My problem is I can buy a Corvette, but can't sell one because I become attached to them, so I have 3 and only should have one.

Same with me. Route 66 TV show was my first exposure to a Corvette and I've loved them ever since. I also have a hard time selling them and in fact have never sold one, only bought them.

Nope, I am planning on dying with my 57 & 65. I like the new C8’s but in AZ. The registration is very expensive for many years (the annual registration for my cars are under $50.) the insurance is much more expensive and If owned one and later decided to sell it I KNOW there would be massive depreciation.

If i had the money my choices would be 2011 Carbon Fiber or a Black Rose C7 in either a Z06 or Grand Sport. I have not seen a C8 in person yet it is not appealing to me yet. In the meantime I will still hang on to my ‘66 BB car.

I don't feel like an old fart but at 64, retired at 56, I might be considered one. Been a Corvette lover since 15 and owner since 18. I'm waiting to see the convertible next week before I decide which model to get. I'll still keep my 60 (45+ years) and my 65 big block.

My wife and I talked, briefly, about trading in her 2013 GS with 10K miles for a C8. She was warm to the idea until she discovered she couldn’t get a stick shift. That ended the discussion.

Reminds me of the 316 buyers in 1965 that didn't want those new-fangled disc brakes even though they were far superior to what they replaced, just like the DCT in the C-8.

I'm a potential buyer. I skipped the C7 and would let my C6 go if I picked up a C8. Went to the local Chevy dealer this past Monday to see the Sebring Orange C8 they brought in - I was not disappointed.

But I'm never a first model year buyer - I'd wait until at least the 2021 model.

My wife enjoys driving a car and shifting is a big part of that She’s not looking to set any quarter mile records on her trips to the grocery store.
