That is a very favorable review. This is more what we were expecting to see. Damn Chevy nice job.

Phil1098 10-16-2019 08:30 AM

Wow, they are really impressed by the Corvette. All the haters really need to read (if they can) the whole article.

Comparable nearly equally in performance but with better acceleration, 0-60, 1-4 mile etc, the Porsche got higher marks for tracking, driver connected feel, brakes and the figure eight, they gave the the win by far on interior fit and finish to the Vette (never thought I’d see the day), as well as ride quality and value overall.
It was a very good and seemingly honest review with the C8 coming out the clear winner.

That was a great article. I’m no fanboy of corvette or Porsche, though I will say driving a Porsche is an impressive experience. My issue is that Porsche looks 50 years old next to the vette. I don’t look anything like I did even 20 years ago, so why in the hell would you want a car that still does?

It's such a better value. $35K cheaper, and that gap will grow even bigger once you can start getting a discount on the C8. More like $40-45K cheaper.

GM needs to tune the brakes on these and reduce some of the understeer on the Z51. I think with some minor tweaks the C8 will be even better.

MT giving the win to the $77K Corvette over the $114K Porsche? I never thought I’d see the day!

Funny I’m thinking of getting my first Porsche. They are not on strike and I’m not getting any younger.

:iagree: They never mention the fact that only a hard core Porsche fan can tell the difference in models year to year.

The gap also gets larger if comparably equipped, there are 992 911S models at over $150k out there right now. Just see what they charge for a Bose stereo and other items that are already on the Corvette (at the compared 3LT level).

They actually picked the C7 GS over the 911 in a head to head a few yeas ago.

do they take a small portion of it in a glass and swirl it around before imbibing a bit and sucking air through their teeth? Ahh yes. This is a 2008 911.
:D:flag:

Porsches are great cars with loads of personality, they wouldn't have been as successful as they have been for this long if they weren't, the problem today is value. $77k vs. $114k isn't straight up, to have the same features as a 3LT that 911S would be far closer to $135k, almost the price difference of a base C8. The question is, are you really getting TWICE the car? Uh no, not even close.

Raced Guy 10-16-2019 08:54 AM

This review seems very positive towards the new tremec dct !

It's been this way for a long time though. Many generations now. The C7 GS was put up head to head against the 911 and they picked the GS (it was considered the more balanced and better drivers car to boot).

Now because the Corvette is mid engine it might sway a few Porsche buyers, but I am not so sure because many people buy Porsche for the heritage and prestige. I personally love the looks of the 911 both inside and out, and personally, prefer it to the new C8 but I am too thrifty with my money to buy a 911 over a Corvette. I am speccing out $74K C8's which are so much cheaper than a base 911.

Porsche's google map navigation is beautiful. That satellite view is awesome...

I've heard that GM cars would start using google maps from 2021. Hope the Z06 will get the same satellite view.

GM's marketing still sucks. They should have invited the different youtube testers like Shmee, independent journaists etc. Like the german do. Embargo is over, but still I can't find a normal video.

They invited some of them to the C8 unveiling, but I do agree they should have done a proper launch and had a road/track event for the big Youtubers. I think they (GM) missed the boat on that.

Matt Farah was able to post his Smoking Tire video though (he drove the car with Road And Track). It will likely get more views than many of the other big publications like KBB, Car And Driver, etc on Youtube.

Well if you use Apple Carplay in your Corvette you have had access to Google Maps since the 2016 model year.
