I went with Kenwood with no complaints, and cooperated a Sirius receiver and Apple Play and Bluetooth.

Remember do it right the first time.

Part of me wants to go all out: Buy a new phone with wireless AA/ACP compatibility, and then go with the Kenwood.

My rear camera comes on when I put the car in reverse. The front comes on with a push of a button on the head unit anytime I want except when in reverse.

On my Kenwood the front comes on with the button and for about 10 seconds after I shift out of reverse. It is nice for parking.

Do it. You won't regret it.

My concern about the Kenwood is its style. It looks like the buttons and animations glow different colors and are a bit "showy"... Sony looks so clean!

With mine I can control the colors it shows as well as the angle of the screen. From my experience, Sony and Alpine are both subpar to Kenwood quality. I've used all 3 over the past 10 years, and Kenwood has outperformed in every instance.

I just installed the Kenwood DMX906S with F/R cams and did their pre-wire service. Plug n play. Can't speak for the other units but VERY happy with the Kenwood.

What did you hook up the power for the front and rear cameras?

I have the DNX994, I called Crutchfield about powering up the cameras and they had me cut 2 wires behind the unit and splice the camera power/ground into them. Works fine, no problems at all. I've read that some folks splice into the back up light wire in the rear of the car...

Android Auto and Apple Car Play require physical wire connection in most cases. The Kenwood unit allows for wireless AA and ACP, but the phone being used must also be compatible with wireless AA and ACP. That is, both the HU and the phone must be compatible with AA and ACP.

I think I'm better off with my base model radio and the 3.5mm Bluetooth module. I can get directions, answer and talk on the phone and toggle music forward and back off my phone now. For $10 I'll keep it all stock OEM.

Is it possible to run the USB cable into the center glove box? I'd like to plug my phone in and keep it out of the way when I get in the car.

However... I'd like to keep the 12v plug.

How could I do this? Perhaps drill a hole in the trim next to the 12v?

I removed that plug and put a dual USB port in that space, I bought one from Crutchfield and it fit perfectly in there. For 12V power I just kept the plug in the dash behind that lower door...

Yes. It's easy. I have 2 USB cables and a 3.5mm jack in my center console (and a Vitesse Throttle controller). Just trim the bottom of the console. I can take a pic if you need.

I went with the Alpine you have listed. Go through Crutchfield and use the pre-wired service. Worth the $25.

That really isn't the case. I barely notice them glowing. The writing (the illuminated part) is very small.
