TJ Hunt Check Engine light (road trip)

I've been watching Tj Hunt YouTube C8 road trip and he has the check engine light illuminated, at time stamp 9.35 On-Star informed him that the car "has a fault with the engine and transmission, need to see a dealer in one (1) day"....It will be interesting to see the video on what the "fix" is for this engine and transmission fault.
Great to see the cars performance on the cross country road trip and his videos of the ride.

Maybe it's a good thing that my car is a later build.

is that leftover plastic wrapping on the dash? 5:16

People are going to overreact to this. Almost assuredly. Just watch the video, he knows why it came one and it goes off by itself. It wasn't off by the end of the video because they hadn't stopped and turned the car off and back on to clear it like the first time they cause it trying a burnout.

How is it that Chevy has 100’s of thousands of miles on their mules and these guys uncover a useless check engine light within 2k? Twice. Not a good start, but perhaps par for the course.

Did Chevy not anticipate the general public thrashing on these immediately!?

As for the check engine light? Eh... I would be more concerned why it sounds like the DCT is in neutral (he says fuel cutoff but it sure sounds like free revving to me during the donuts? Low fluid harness or connector coming loose?

Anxiously awaiting a review of a regular C8 customer that takes delivery of his/her car ....
Nothing against you tubers ,I’m simply out of the loop, and grateful!

how was it that chevy didn't figure out the A8 trans fluid they used in every car and truck was retaining moisture for more than 2 years?

Nobody knows until the cars are in the customer's hands. Translation = early owners = high fives and gawking at cars and coffee on sunday and plenty of service visits on Monday.. no thanks. Year 3 and 4 will have been improved.

Louis ville

They should be locked up just for that.

Not good at all, and even worse that this happened with a so called influencer. This is the demographic GM wants buying C8's and the car throws a check engine a thousand miles in.

range96 03-09-2020 09:54 PM

Question is how many trips to the dealer before it's fixed?

YellaFever 03-09-2020 09:55 PM

Drift attempt ;-)

Hands down ,that was the most unorthodox donut/drift I ever have seen.

If his C8 could talk ,it would beg for a new owner...and probably one that doesn’t wear man leggings and a mismatched wrist watch with sports attire.

Jason8416 03-09-2020 10:06 PM

Engine light is from the donuts he did... well that’s my guess

Well if this is the audience GM wanted to target the C8 too they found them. Even before the unveil all those spy shots a lot of the time the check engine light was on also.

SlingShotYellow 03-09-2020 10:16 PM

POOR CAR.. do these guys pay for these cars on their own? or given to test? still say POOR CAR

jimmypop13 03-10-2020 03:27 AM

If there's a right way to do donuts and burn outs with these cars, Chevy should probably let people know how so they don't screw them up trying like people are saying is happening in this guy's video

Vette_Pilot 03-10-2020 06:38 AM

Could this be a sign of things to come??? :willy:

There is no reason doing donuts or spinning your tires should cause a check engine light.
