After you had your car out for a run do you...
After you had your car out for a run and put it back in the garage, do you put the cover on it right away or do you let it cool down first?
:lurk: |
Open the hood and let it cool down for about 2 hrs. Sometimes with a fan blowing on it. Also leave the garage door open a little. Just my thing to do.

I take my cover off in April and put it back on in December.

No cover....I just put a fan on to get the oil refinery smell to go out the garage door. Also because my second favorite thing to do after driving it is looking at it.

If I'm not doing anything with the car after it goes in the garage, I put the cover on immediately. Hasn't hurt anything yet.
|
I put my 73 back in it’s personal garage and open the hood but leave the garage door up for some hours. If I close the garage right away I get too much smell throughout the garages.
|
Used to, now I just cover it up and walk away, not gonna hurt anything
|
Same here, put the cover on and walk away.
|
I give mine a good, long drink....at the gas station. :hide:

Mine sits like a queen in her own garage while the two main cars share a garage in the background :)

I put the hood up to cool. Put the cover on when I get around to it. Live on a gravel drive so I always have to dust it first before the cover goes on.
I would just leave it off for the season but too much dust around my house and the car gets covered in dust pretty quick. Gloss black shows it really well. |
Let it cool down. Also, Whenever I start the engine, I never turn it off until the coolant temperature is at max idle temperature....~200+ degrees. This is to avoid water build up in the exhaust pipes.
I keep the cover on garaged cars here. Airborne dust where I live has salt in it. The dust is corrosive. I continually keep dust off my factory 69 sidepipe covers on my 68 since replacements are now about $3000. i live about 2 miles from the ocean...Pacific.....and normal windflow is usually off the ocean.....yet dust that settles on my cars....or anything....is black. I really believe this is pollution that is blown here from China. I assume it's carbon soot. |
The top goes back up, it gets parked on the side of the house, the cover goes right on. and all the little spiders say "it's back"
