Is the C8 Arguably the Best Car Currently Being Produced by the USA?

I can’t name another US manufactured car currently in the market that is better than the C8.

Thoughts?

Depends on your metric. It is not good as a family car, for hauling cargo, or as an economical daily. It is the best performance car 2 seater for the buck though.

My metric is looks, quality, technology, price and performance.

Define "better". I'd say the ZL1/1LE is a better performance car.

It may not be the best depending on your preferences, but it has to be damn close to the top.

I can't either. For the price, brand new, the C8 IS THAT CAR.

Mid engine, supercar looks, V8, DCT, all the tech, all the performance.

Can't beat it.

Sportscar Yes.

Best “sportscar” produced in the USA? May be the “only” sportscar produced in the USA!

* I don’t consider “sporty” GT’s like Camaros, Mustangs, etc to be sportscars due to the backseat.

Rather choose # of seats vs faster?

The lines are blurred these days between pony/muscle/sport. I totally understand your thoughts of the Camaro not being a SC.

Are 911's sports cars in your opinion?

23/C8Z 08-30-2020 10:38 AM

i hate to say this... but i would say the Teslas are more awe inspiring if you're into the tech/future. i am seriously contemplating a Model Y when my wife's lease is up end of the year. never thought i would say it..

but the Corvette is absolutely the best ICE produced today in terms of excitement, exclusivity, performance at an affordable price.

EasyLivin 08-30-2020 10:49 AM

No... The Camry and Accord are better just for 2 examples...

The overwhelming majority of 911 owners and enthusiasts would consider it a sports car. What looks like a rear seating area is really not usable for seating. When have you or any other adult you know been the 3rd soul onboard in a 911? There are some out there adamant about what constitutes a "sports car" which narrows it to Boxsters and Miatas, YUK!

Two more points where we are in 100% agreement. Keep it going!

No not at all. Corvette quality is good bu not that good.

The C8 is light years ahead of the C7 in terms of quality, but it still can't touch the germans. Even low to middle tier BMW's, audi's, and benz's have WORLD CLASS interiors. Everything is tight, all the minor details like the stitching is perfect, it's just a better quality car.

But in terms of performance, looks and what you actually get mechanically, the C8 IS HARD to beat.

I've had ten Corvettes in my life and have never had a single problem with any of them. If that is getting lucky 10 times in a row then why do I get my ass kicked every time I walk in a Casino?
