C7 Seats
I have just swapped out the factory competition seats from my 2015 for a GT set of seats from a 2016. I have the pinout charts for both years and they are identical but when I start the car i have an air bag light on the dash, have just recently unhooked the battery to charge the battery if that matters, not sure why I now have a air bag light on.
Any thoughts Dale4ster |
How old is the car battery? Just something else to consider. Good luck.

maybe once an airbag is noticed to be disconnected it might need to be reset in terms of removing the code?
assuming you just swapped everything you had before onto the new seats, if so maybe try disconnecting the airbag connections and recheck/reconnect them. |
Do both set of seats have the airbags in them? There may be a difference in the air bags from one style of seat to the next.

Check the connectors for the airbags themselves. Hopefully you have airbags. It's possible someone took them out and then just put the housing covers back on.

^ good point. Assuming the air bags are in place, it is strange that a light would come on.
|
I will begin by saying I have never had to clear an Air Bag light on my C7 but I have on a number of my other cars. In each of the previous cases you needed to go into the air bag module and erase the code and then the light would go out. In the case of my Porsches you need a special code reader and couldn't do it with a cheap OBD II reader. This issue would come up if you disconnected an ab in either the seat or steering wheel and then turned the ignition switch on and the system went through its testing function. Something to consider.

C7 should clear most of those automatically. I did some work on my car where I had the passenger seat out, and turned the car on a few times to check my work. The airbag faults came on, but they cleared automatically once I got the car fully reassembled.

Why would you swap out the competition seats for the GT seats?

No they don't. I have competition seats and I don't find them comfortable either. What makes the GT seats more comfortable. Don't they feels the same on the butt?

they dont fit some as good as needed and can be uncomfortable i believe. so selling them and making money while changing to gt's is a win win for some.
