I know that I have seen where CF members have been able to purchase products from Lone Star Caliper even though they say Wholesale Only. So as to not "turn the brake world upside down", can someone please PM me and let me in on how this is done? Thanks.

Just call and ask for Ken. He is the top salesman at Carlisle. He has sold us breaks for all of the Corvettes in dads fleet.

The price you will pay direct from them will be pretty much the price you will pay from the retailer who buys wholesale from them. You will not get the wholesale pricing unless you negotiate a deal with them and buy a bunch of calipers.

Last summer when I was looking for calipers, I found Lone Star's direct price to me was a tad higher than the kit prices from the Corvette parts dealers. I chose Corvette Central since they came with the new bolts, clips, and USA-made hoses.

Any wholesaler that expects to keep dealers will price their direct sales prices at top retail. Often times you will find dealers will have a lower price.

I'm looking at replacing the leaking "lip seal" calipers on my C3 with the upgraded "o-ring" design with stainless sleeves.

Lonestar's website is down, do you know what the core charge is? I also have 4 extra cores from my buddies C2 that I would like to "cash in". Thanks

It's been 4 or 5 years since I bought from them, but at that time there was a core charge and I had to pay shipping to return the old calipers to TX. They are in a box on the shelf as the shipping was crazy high then. Couldn't guess what it is now.

2 calipers will fit in a flat-rate USPS box if they're nestled opposing each other - I recall that maybe a front and rear paired, as one is larger than the other. This puts the return of 4 at about $50 in total.

Maybe the packaging was my problem as I believe it was much more than $50 back then, but no need to worry about it now. I found the packaging to be a huge issue when I tried sending a fuel pump to Germany.

In recent years Lone Star has stated that their calipers are incompatible with the preferred DOT 5 brake fluid for our old cars. Fortunately, Raybestos still makes DOT 5-compatible rotors. There was a recent thread on this: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ake-parts.html

I buy survivor calipers and master clys from them and I have them restore all my MC and wheel cylinders

I had Lone Star restore my original, dated 67 calipers. They will do this for an extra $20 per caliper "baby sitting' charge as they called it but I got my orig calipers back totally restored. Great company to deal with. I think they also did my master cylinder. If you just send yours in for a rebuild, there's no guarantee that you won't get an "exchange" caliper.

Question for the experts:

Starting pulling my calipers as they are leaking, can you confirm this is a lip seal? Thx

Plan to get the SS sleeved o-ringed calipers from Lone Star.

Can't tell wether they are lip seals or O-ring seals. Open them up and determine if they are sleeved in stainless steel. If so, consider buying and installing new O-ring seals with new pistons. The job is straight forward and easy. Jerry
